No, it can't sleep/wake the iPad.

Does this one (red shown) have a folding panel "easel" feature that allows you to stand/prop the iPad mini up for presentation purposes, for example?

Yes it does but the area to hold it is rubber type strips not indentions like the iPad one has. I find if I'm touching it when vertical it tends to slide. Otherwise I love my Targus! Great protection!
