Reviewers criticized the album for having too many ballads and not enough hard rock or even rock. The cover art for this album, as with several earlier Scorpions albums, was replaced with an alternative cover for some releases due to the nudity on the original cover. This is the only Scorpions album on which session musician Curt Cress plays drums. The album has more ballads than non-ballads. Awesome... great album!
The cover art for this album was replaced with an alternate cover for the U.S. release. The U.S. cover had a picture of the band with a red wave eminating from a guitar. Pure instinct it's a return to their roots in solid songwriting blending the better textures of their instruments and vocals.This is one of my favorite Scorpions albums behind Blackout & Love at First Sting. The songs are all great and have great hooks. It is what I call Hard Rock not Heavy Metal. If you like Scorpions this is a great album. The most amazing thing about this album is the complete lack of filler. Not that the Scorpions are known for writing filler songs, but this is their 13th full-length album. Most bands lose their creative energy after 5 or 6 albums, but that is not the case here. Every single song here is very well composed and structured, and they all have the kind of chorus that will have you singing along by the second time you listen to the album. The other great thing about this is that they haven't tried to modernize their sound at all. Stylistically, this album sounds very much like something from the 80s, but with a more modern production. It's classic Scorpions material, melodic catchy hard rock bordering on metal.

Has something for everyone!
Keeping my review short, this album has a little bit of everything from ballads to heavier tunes. I noticed that people have differing opinions on this one...in light of that, I would suggest listening to the previews of the songs before purchase. In my opinion, it is a great Scorpions album and a definite to have in your collection!

Pure Ballad Instinct!!!!
In the other reviews they said this was an album with too much ballads. I agree, and if Herman Rarebell didn't left the band, this was never happened. But that much ballads doesn't make it boring, does it? 'Wild Child' is a nice rocker, but 'Stone In My Shoe' is wonderful, I love 'Tim Will Call Your Name', and 'But The Best For You' is the best for you. :D. 'Does Anyone know' is just boring and makes me sleep. 'Soul behind The Face' is very nice to hear, and 'Oh Girl (i wanna be with you)' is really nice as well. 'When You Came into My Life' is average, and 'Where the river flows' is worth the title of boring ballad. 'You And I' is not ugly, but it ain't super, it's average. And last and the absolute least: 'Are You the One?'. Where are the electric guitars on the last song? Klaus Meine better wrote this one on Acoustica!! But this is a pretty good POP album.Keep On ROCKing, not Popping!
