This kit was a delightful surprise! I expected a challenge and found a project to remember. From start to completion, this was a joy. To see a great engineering example, and to watch as the fire engine evolved with so much detail, kept me enrapt though the whole process. My wife was amazed by my cheerful comments and expressed joy. All the pieces fit with very little sanding or force. As you will see from the photos, it became an amazing example. The manual is complete with visual warnings to prevent misalignments allowing ease of assembly. As with other Wood Trick kits, there is value for the cost.

I bought this fire truck and put it together for my old boss and great friend. Who is a firefighter and was turning 60. I had a great time putting it together. Was super excited to give it to him and it did not disappoint. He loved it and everything functioned as it should would highly recommend.

My only complaints: not enough ink used in the manual, resulting in poor detail definition in spots; the ladder elevation retention mechanism is poor. Aside from that, this model is amazing! EVERYTHING worked perfectly on the first pass. The outriggers work smoothly and the engine runs smoothly on demand. Parts are generally difficult to remove from sheets, since the material used is about 4mm thick. This can be resolved by using a flexible pad beneath the sheets and sharply tapping the parts out. Assembly fit is very tight, but everything is wonderfully desigened, engineered, and detailed. Be careful with the engine assembly ... there is a cam used to engage the motor, the major lobe must be oriented correctly and it is advisable to heavily lube it and work it in before final assembly. When finished this thing is awesome! The very functional outriggers will support the ladder at full extension and 90 degree deflection. WISH LIST: Gear shift to motorize ladder extension. Better detail views of "difficult" sub-assemblies. Sharper definition of extension lines in illustrations. A more functional ladder elevation mechanism. Best of luck as you wander through multiple parts sheets for many sub-assemblies!

This is amazing! Very detailed work and take some time but fantastic finished product that can be proudly displayed anywhere.

I have completed several 3D wooden puzzles, but this one has great details and is nicely challenging.

Precision machining of parts. Sturdy plywood. Good directions. Amazing quality!

Assembly instructions easy to follow. Parts easily removed from sheet. No breakages when assembling. Level of detail is good because as well as the geared ladder extending and raising there are other features e.g. wagon doors open, feet come out for stability and there's a compartment for hose etc. Cab is also well detailed. Was a pleasure to build this model. Fairly easy to build but does take time and patience to assemble. If instructions say polish and wax gearing etc. make sure it's done as this is crucial for the operation of the mechanics. Personally I don't use wax - I use petroleum jelly which I apply with an artist's brush.

Purchased for my Dad, he so enjoyed putting it together. On cold winter day it gives him something to do.
