A Budget-Friendly Option with Mixed Results
Iāve been trying out the TevraPet FirstAct Plus Flea and Tick Prevention for Cats (Over 1.5lbs, 6 Monthly Doses) on my two cats, and itās been a bit of a mixed bag. If youāre looking for an affordable alternative to big-name flea treatments, this oneās worth considering, but it comes with some caveats. The Good Stuff: This topical treatment uses fipronil (9.8%) and (S)-methoprene (11.8%), the same active ingredients as Frontline Plus, which is a major plus for budget-conscious pet owners. The 6-dose pack, priced around $25-$35, offers a full six months of protection, making it way cheaper than name brands. Applying it is straightforwardāpart the fur at the base of your catās neck, squeeze the applicator onto the skin, and youāre done. Itās waterproof, so baths or rain wonāt wash it off, and itās designed to kill fleas, flea eggs, larvae, ticks (including Lyme disease carriers), and chewing lice for up to 30 days per dose. My indoor cat hasnāt shown any fleas since I started using it, and several Amazon reviews echo this, with one user saying it āworked as well as Frontline for a fraction of the costā and kept their outdoor cat flea-free. Itās made in Germany in an EU-GMP certified facility, which adds some reassurance about quality control. The fact that itās safe for cats over 1.5 lbs and 8 weeks old makes it versatile for most feline households.Whatās Not So Great: Hereās where things get tricky. While some users, including myself, have had success, others report itās hit-or-miss. A few Amazon reviews were brutal, with one user claiming their cats had āthe worst flea infestation everā after using it, even when paired with oral treatments like Capstar. Another mentioned skin irritation on their catsā necks, which I havenāt seen with mine but is concerning, especially for cats with sensitive skin or flea allergies. The applicatorās sharp edges are another issueāone reviewer warned it could scrape a catās skin if youāre not careful, which is a design flaw compared to smoother applicators like Frontlineās. Also, if your cat has a heavy flea problem or youāre in a high-infestation area, you might need to apply it every 30 days (or even more frequently for flea allergy dermatitis), and results can vary. Iāve noticed my outdoor cat still scratches occasionally, so Iām supplementing with regular grooming. Lastly, itās not for dogs, so if you have a mixed pet household, youāll need a separate product.Final Thoughts: The TevraPet FirstAct Plus is a solid budget option for flea and tick prevention, especially if your catās infestation isnāt severe or youāre using it preventatively. The price and vet-quality ingredients make it appealing, and itās worked well for my indoor cat. However, the mixed reviews on effectiveness and potential for skin irritation mean itās not a guaranteed win for every cat. Iād rate it a 3.5/5āgreat value and easy to use, but the inconsistent results and applicator design hold it back. If youāre trying it, start with the 3-dose pack to test it out, keep an eye on your cat for irritation, and pair it with good grooming and home treatment for best results. Itās a decent alternative to Frontline, but donāt expect miracles in heavy flea zones.

Perfectly fine product
Initially I was very skeptical after buying this flea treatment because of the several cases of cats missing fur and developing scabs... I was really nervous after putting this on my indoor/outdoor cat. The first image is about 6 hours after one application. Second photo is about 12 hours. Almost completely dry and no signs or symptoms of irritation or allergic reaction. Don't mind the redness on my kitty's ears she has been treated for that previously it is unrelated to the flea treatment. Also, I was only using this medication for prevention. She goes outside an hour a day, but my vet recommended preventative measures. Anyway, I would recommend this product because I have a good experience. I would say if your cat is particularly sensitive or has had skin issues or worries in the past to look for something more effective and not so cheap. All in all I think I will use it again for next month.

FLEA AND TICK TREATMENT
OK I COULDNT AFFORD MORE FRONLINE PLUS SO I RESEARCHED AND SAW THIS PRODUCT. I HAVE AN INDOOR CAT . HE GETS TREATED EVERY MONTH . I GUESS I AM THE ONE BRINGING IN THE FLEAS FROM OUTDOORS ON MY SOCKS SHOES OR PANTS AS THERE ARE OUTSIDE CATS HERE TO AND YARD WILL BE SPRAYED WITH THE CUTTER BRAND SPRAY . MY CAT IS STILL SCRATCHING ( ESP AT NIGHT ) AFTER 4 DAYS OF TREATMENT . I VAC EVERY OTHER DAY ,SHAKE OUT HIS BEDDING AND WASH COUPLE TIMES A WEEK . I USE NATURAL CARE SPRAY ALSO INSIDE ON RUG AND AT ENTRANCE . I COMB HIM AND FIND THE BLACK SPECKS SO IM THINKING ITS JUST TAKING A LITTLE LONGER FOR THE FULL EFFECT.. WE WILL SEE..

Did not work at all
I always see the small percentage of customers who seem like they are on another planet from the rest of the reviewer's on different products. Well I don't know what planet I am on but my cats have NEVER had the amount of flea's on them as they do after using this product. I could be facetious and say I would swear it attracted them, I don't know. What I do know is when I put it on them they had no flea's because of the product I normally use. Now they are all miserable and I can't keep them combed enough until it's safe to put their normal drops on them. I also have two of my cats that have irritation on their necks I can't honestly say for sure it's these drops but I can say they have not had the problem before. I only tried these because of the ingredients that I read help if your cats have mites and I have one cat that is my red headed stepchild that always has some kind of rough areas on her skin under her fur. I am apologizing to my cats for changing their drops for which now they are licking chewing hot messes. Mommy's sorry....

Better Than Most
I was impressed with this brand of cat tick and flea topical. It pretty much worked the entire 4 weeks, not 3 like some others I had tried. This product is comparable to Frontline Plus, and I must agree it is.The only thing I did not care for was the applicator. Cats do not sit still when applying this because they are trying to either get away or check out what you are putting on them. The applicator the topical comes in has sharp edges, so be careful when applying that you do not scrape your cat's skin. A cat has thinner skin than dogs do, it punctures and tears easily. For that reason I do not like their applicator. Whoever the quality control person is with this company must not have cats. They should put it in squeeze bottles that have a dull point on the end, for wriggling cats. Maybe they will read my review and think about what they are using compared to the companies that do use the dull pointed tubes. It just makes sense..My cats did not get ill or have any kind of reaction to this particular brand. I would recommend it 100%, but instead it gets 85% recommendation, because of sharp edges.
