Review: It takes time to understand, but once you get the idea, this game is incredible - I really admire: Wide range of strategies. There are many mechanics. I mean really many: 1. Nine leaders, each with one active and one passive skill. 2. Deck cards (nearly all of them are unique) 3. Intrigue cards 4. Conflict cards 5. Contracts 6. Agents 7. Spies 8. Four factions 9. Three areas 10. Three different resources. 11. Soldiers 12. Sandworms 13. Persuasion That brings different ways of gaining advantage over your opponents, spoiling their plans and obtaining keys to victory. Yet, your opponents also have arsenal of weapons and tools. The mind games of weaving your plans through the plans of your opponents feels great. Potential for replaying. While chosen leaders add much to shaping strategies, yet each game is going to be unique since the cards in personal decks will be different every time. What I would improve: Slight balance asymmetry. Areas of Landsraad and faction of Emperor seem to be somewhat less appealing if compared to other areas and factions. (As I have seen on the review of add-on "Dune: Imperium Bloodlines", this issue has been recognized and dealt with) Review: Best board game - One of the best board game out there if you love strategy and deck-building. Uprising adds even more depth and tension to the base game without overcomplicating things. Every decision feels meaningful, and the new mechanics keep each play fresh and competitive. If you’re into strategic games, this one’s a must-have.

Great game solo, duel, or 3-4 players.
Great game, stand alone but consider getting Bloodlines expansion too to balance out the worms. Also print or get someone to print an insert for the box to combine both.

Even better than Dune: Imperium!
I am already bananas over Dune: Imperium but after playing Uprising, which feels like a much tighter, fraught experience where resources like Water are even more precious. The addition of spies is really cool and though I’ve only played it once, I can tell you I already like it better and we didn’t even get to tame any worms!? Not only that but the Imperium deck seems to have far more interesting cards in it than the Imperium deck from Dune: Imperium as well as more fully realized Leader cards. Also combat plays a far greater role than in the previous version of Dune: Imperium from Dire Wolf. I was absolutely obsessed with a different version of this game from Avalon Hill that I bought in the early 80s but this version of Dune is far more interesting and Shown are custom tokens for the Alliances from BuyTheSameToken.

Dune lore lovers will not be disappointed!
This game is very well designed for the average person to be able to understand. There is no distinct advantage that comes solely from knowing the books/movies. However, for those who have read or watched the Dune series, they will not be disappointed. The game is full of images from the second movie, as well as subtle nudges towards the books. The gameplay style is fairly easy to understand, though mastering the game is very difficult. It all depends on managing your resources and cars well. Spend all your resources too early, and you will be left in the dust during the pivotal final rounds. Wait too long, and you will find you have too much to spend in too little time and it will be too late to catch the leaders. For anyone who is comfortable around games, this is a great game to get.

A worthy expansion to your board game collection
This is a great board game that does a superb job keeping up with the lore of Dune and cranks up the chaos. If you have the original there is still added benefit to upgrading to this expansion. The sandworms are massive and hungry. Each conflict feels like and MMA fight on Arrakis. The them is great, the tension tense, and the game is accessible to the most power hungry diplomat who strategies away, to my young son of 8 who is like let me get that spice and anyone in my way feels destruction

A stronger reflection of the source
Lets be clear, while nowhere the complex, fans only, game of the older (1980's) one, neither Dune Imperium game is intended for "casual gamers" Its dynamics have several moving parts, it is highly asymmetrical, and there IS a learning curve. Beyond that it is dynamic and fun and IF you have the time and patience it can be a great experience. The real question for many is, which is better; Uprising or the original, and IF I have the 1st, is it worthwhile to upgrade? Uprising is a better game, the minor changes and the inclusion of the sandworms are without a doubt solid if mostly subtle improvements. If you are NEW to the game, then yes, ABSOLUTELY go with Uprising, but for older players, these are somewhat pricy, and I'd recommend playing first before you decide if its worth it because in reality, both are great.

Best version of dune imperium!
Great game! Very well designed. Best with 4 players. 6 player was very interesting. The sandworms offer great risk vs reward. Honestly how can you not have sandworms and spies in a dune universe game? At 50 dollars great value and replay.

An Instant Classic Refined
I love the base game Dune: Imperium, and it's become an instant favorite among my friends. (I haven't played the expansions as I find the OG game is stellar on its own, and I'm not a huge fan of buying expansions, given that I'd usually rather just put that money towards a new game.) Dune: Imperium Uprising is largely the same game in terms of its core mechanics (and can even be mixed and matched with the original D:I, if you were so inclined), but it really shakes things up in interesting ways. It has things like: new heroes to command, each with their own unique abilities; new/rebalanced board spaces; new and arguably more interesting cards; more things to do (eg. the optional CHOAM contracts) and spend resources on, meaning solari is actually useful in the late game; sandworms that you can ride into battle, buffing your combat strength and doubling your combat rewards... while it's all very similar at its core, it still manages to feel fresh, more balanced, and all around more impactful. It may not be for everyone, however. The original D:I is usually very tense with close games until the final moments, whereas the sandworms doubling conflict rewards can potentially mean someone earning as much as 5 (!) victory points in one conflict if they play their cards right (out of the 10 points required to trigger the end game). Games can be much more swingy as a result, so if you're not down with that, the original may be more your speed. In spite of that, I still think I'd recommend D:IU as the version to get, regardless if you're new to D:I or not. Both versions are fantastic, and the original is still a near perfect game in my eyes... This one just smooths over some of the minor complaints I had with it (and who doesn't want to command sand worms to fight for them, c'mon).
