BATODA Dowel Jig Kit for Floating Shelf Bracket, 1/2" Drill Bit Included

Quality of the product is good and looks like it will last. The jig works perfect for custom floating shelves. Jig is a good size and doesn’t take up a lot of room.

I installed six floating shelves with this tool and it worked out great. The drill bit was certianly long enough for what I needed. Be sure to go out of your way to clear the wood chips especially so when you complete drilling the hole. A few times I did not clear the chips and I could not get the shelf to move all the way back to the wall.

Great for making your own floating shelves. Makes it super easy to drill the holes into the wood. It’s kind of a pain to get the wood out of the holes when drilling though

I had no problems drilling the 6" deep holes at 90 degrees. The hole is drilled at the center of the shelf thickness regular less of the actual shelf thickness. Positioning the location of the hole along the length of the shelf is a little tricky. The jig doesn't have any indicators to help you with positioning. I was able to come up with a technic that work. I rated the "easy to use" at 3 instead of 5 because that type of position requires some thought for accurate positioning of the hole from the end of the shelf

After drilling about 20 holes, I can say I’m not a big fan of this jig. Out of those 20 holes, 4 ended up coming out the side of the board. The drill bit doesn’t stay centered—you can actually see it wobble while drilling. That wobble quickly starts wearing out the guide collar, which eventually ruins the jig. If you’re planning to use it for more than a small project, I’d recommend spending a little more on a higher-quality dowel jig.

This seems to be a well machined product. In my opinion, the guide for the drill bit should be a little longer, so the hole is more apt to be drilled correctly into the shelf wood.

Doesn't quite self center and is off approx. 1/32 to 1/16 of an inch. Good for quick and rough joinery, but extra time for finishing will be needed. I can't justify spending nearly a hundred dollars on a Dowling jig and this one does what is expected at this price point.
