Even after reading all the reviews praising this pump, it is faster, quieter and especially smother than I was expecting it to be. It's a pump, so its not silent, it can't be, but it is quieter than I was expecting. More importantly: it is smooth, which means that the crankshaft & piston assembly is very well balanced. A well balanced crank will last longer than a poorly balanced one, all other things being equal. If the bearings, seals, reed valves, and motor are as high quality as the crank & piston, then I think this pump should last a very long time. It has a good solid feel also. I'm confident enough in this product's quality, that I'm leaving my spare tire at home from now on. I think the cords and the hose are longer than what some of the other reviewers have described, so maybe Viair has revised this a little. This one made it to all four corners of my Miata with plenty of slack. Yes, the Miata is a small car, but others seem to have said that it was close to not reaching. If Viair made a mini version of this that could fit under a motorcycle seat, I'd be the first in line to buy it.

Compared to the cheaper compressors I've had, this one is much Quieter, much Quicker, and overall much better Quality. The hose (8') and cord is more than long enough for most vehicles. The brass screw-on hose works easy. Definitely recommend spend the extra money and don't go cheap. The only recommendation for improvement would be for the the gauge to be a more realistic scale: Goes up to 120 PSI so it is hard to tell when the needle is on 32 psi.

This is one review I didn't want to have to write. I never wanted to be put in a situation where I would have to use this but I'm glad I had this product when I needed it. It's nice and compact with its own carrying case. It uses car battery clips instead of a cigarette lighter for power which I thought might be a problem since my battery is in the trunk. Sure you could just inflate the tire back there but no need, it would reach every tire on my Camry Hybrid. I like the work light and the integrated pressure gauge. And man is it quiet. No insane racket like I've seen with other models. And the hose screws into the tire stem so no need to hold it there while filling. That's a great touch. Overall, an outstanding product. It may not work for larger vehicles as the hose and wires are only so long, but like I said, it worked for my Camry and you can always fill the tire off of the vehicle at least enough to get you back on the road.

I have a small diesel road car (Citroen C4 Cactus with a 1.6L diesel engine) with 16in wheels. I drive about 2500km (1550mi) a month so I find myself using the compressor from time to time. For my use it is very quick, well built and the gauge is quite accurate, air hose connection is good. However, even with my small car (4.17m 167in) the power cables and air hose could be longer and the power connection somewhat flimsy. I would have liked better alligator clips. Very good value for money for what I paid for it, less so at MSRP.

.... which is all I need this for. It brings a tire from a few pounds under, back up to spec in just a few seconds. Gauge is accurate within a pound or two when you shut the motor off. It's still better to make the final adjustment with a good tire gauge. It's quieter than you'd expect. Confirming, electrical cord is 10 feet, air hose is 8 feet. As others said, to get the diagonally opposite tire you have to run the power cord across the top of the engine. Not an issue for me as you are supposed to check the tires cold anyway. A roadside repair, laying the cord across a hot engine, would be dicey. I could reach the spare tires in the back of my cars by running the power cord back down the same side of the car as the battery. And it had no trouble taking those tires from 55 to 65 psi, quickly. I guess for a large truck you might want the model with the cigarette lighter plug instead if you have a power outlet in the back. The hose is stiff plastic at room temperature and it's pretty stiff in winter. The included adapters for blowing up sports equipment are stored in little clamps down by the feet.... Easy to miss and easy to lose. I'm storing them in a separate ziplock bag. For what I wanted to spend, for just topping off tires, this does the job just fine.

This compressor works much better than other cheap ones. I chose to go with it because of its construction and highly rated reviews. I carry it with me all the time. Light weight and powerful. The hose screws into your valve stem, although I beileve you can get one that clamps on too. I did buy an extension hose for it to reach my trailer tires of my camper when I am hitched up. This runs off of your battery in the vehicle and your vehicle should be running when you use it. Worth the money.

I tried this out yesterday and it worked pretty good. I deflated my tire, 30.5" , 245/70/17, to 20 psi, verified with my gauge. Hooked the pump up to the tire and the pump gauge read 20psi. Turned it on and timed it to fill the tire back up to 36psi. It took about 2 minutes and 40 seconds to fill it back up. The gauge on the pump reads about 2-4 psi higher while it is filling the tire. When the gauge read 40psi, I turned off the pump and it read 36psi. Checked the tire pressure with my normal gauge and it read 36psi. Very impressed with the accuracy of the gauge and the filling time of the tire. Also a word of advice. The pump does get hot when filling the tire and for 15-30 minutes after. I think it was to run for 15 minutes, it could possible burn you. There is a warning stick on the pump.

Sounds powerful for a tiny thing the engine is metal. It takes up almost no space! Worked great for a truck and regular car! The only thing I will not like is putting it back in the tiny bag. It’s sized to perfection but when your in a hurry or if you are not patient to fold all the wires and cables back like factory you’ll have to get a different bag to just throw everything in there fast. Other than that great!! Haven’t tried it with my long bed truck if everything reaches good but will soon update! For now RECOMMENDING!

The viair compressors came highly recommended and this one suitednmy needs perfectly. The compressor does not disappoint and neither did the seller Swastikfabs with their quick delivery. Although my unit was missing the hard copy instruction manual, not a biggie as this can be found online. The unit I purchased hooks onto the car battery and then the led worklight which more or less works as an indicator turns on giving you a kind of go ahead to crank the engine. Once the engine is running the unit is good to do what it does best and fill up tyres. I would recommend giving it a break if pumping up multiple tyres from flat as the unit will run hot. Do compare rate of fills of all the available Viair units before settling on one that fits your needs. The unit is rather silent compared to previous generic comoresors I have used. The provided air hose is a decent lenght(8ft) although I would be pleased if the 6ft extension did not cost as much as it does. Thus far I have been pleased with my purchase and a conversation with Swastikfabs has put me at ease when it comes to after sales support as well and hence I have no issue recommending this compressor or the seller.

A la semana que lo compre lo tuve que usar para inflar una llanta con la valvula dañada. Tenia que recorrer 38 kms en la pista para encontrar la llantera mas cercana. Asi que puse a inflar la llanta con este y me tardaba mas en abrir el cofre que en lo que infla

Although the hose was too short to reach all of the tires on my car, it's an excellent product. (My fault for not comparing my measurements to the manufacturer's specs). Topped up 3 of my 225/45/18 with 6-10 psi in less than 10 seconds each. Fast and quiet. Will replace with the 88P, that in actual use produces the same perfomance, but with longer cables.

I didn't yet start using the product. But the delivery is fantastic. It arrived one day before the scheduled arrival date. The packing is impeccable. And the person at the seller's end is very responsive. I had a few doubts to which he patiently answers promptly every time. And he got one doubt clarified from the manufacturer as well. Hats off. Definitely sturdy and solid than all those sleek, ramp model like portable compressors out there on amazon. Have to see how the product works out. Will update as soon as i have anymore updates. But one thing. Though the company is American, and on the box, it says- 'Manufactured by: Viair, California', the product is 'MADE IN CHINA' (as written on the product). Don't yet drop it from your list. Now a days, everything is made in China. One can't escape this. Even if a product is assembled in your own country, you will have some or the other spares coming in from China. We have some good products from China as well. Let's see how this ends up.

Over the years I have bought a few of Viair's compressors, and they are all still going strong. Anyone who complains about "baby's breath" of puffing air doesn't understand the difference between low volume/high pressure (like this machine) versus high volume/low pressure (your vacuum cleaner or mattress inflator). Great product. Highly recommended. I carry them in my cars and ATV.
