Why do you nead a bridge rectifier with this wind turbine

Below is the answer, but I would not bother about this so-called 'Smart wind' turbine as it produces no power at all (no more than 185 mA) - see my review. This is a 3 phase AC 'generator' so it produces alternating voltage/current (shifted in time) in the three wires sticking out of the motor. The AC should be converted to DC (constant voltage, direct current), whence the rectifier bridge, but beware - the provided diode bridge does not quite rectify to DC, it only combines the three AC waves to produce pulses of the same polarity. So one still needs to smooth the ripples with a filter, or at least a large capacitor.
