This is a great mattress. It's black, not Aqua colored with a dense fabric feel.
I've been sleeping on waterbeds for 35 years now. I've gone through 5-6 mattresses in that time and have learned what I like. I really like this waterbed mattress because:1) It's new, and they are softer in the first few years. The vinyl stiffens up ofter time.2) It doesn't have a smell. This feature is huge as I've bought other waterbeds that made my bedroom have a sickening plastic-chemical smell that takes a month or two to wear off.3) It's 21mm thick, verses 18mm in my old mattress that got pin holes in it.4) The mattress is black with a fabric feel and not Aqua colored plastic. I think the photo in the amazon ad was aqua colored, but that's not what you get and that's good. Aqua colored mattresses tend to be lower quality.5) My old mattess was 98% waveless and all that stuffed fiber seemed to steal the waterbed feel from the mattress. This new mattress is 90% and you sink into it more like you are floating instead of resting on top of the fiber. I prefer the new mattress feel, slept really good last night with my wife next to me.6) One day, hopefully many years down the road, the mattress will need to be drained and probably thrown away as they have no resale value. Mattresses with a lot of fiber don't drain easily and are very heavy. A little less fiber, a little less weight to pick up and put in the trash bin. So this 90% mattress should be a bit lighter than my old 90%, that thing almost killed me, probably weighed 300lbs drained.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT --- THIS IS THE TICKET!!!!
I have to say up front. I am a 60's left-over Hippie!! I have spent my entire life in a waterbed, and what's more, I used to sell them! I have always owned the CA King! So this review is the one you want! Cudos go out to my last mattress. I bought it in 1982 - it was a 90% motionless. But it was finally time to say goodbye. If you're just getting into waterbeds, I suggest that you find one without any fiber filling, and lay down on it. You need to know how to calibrate the level of fiber you need or like and the motion that fits you. Once you slosh all over the place in that full motion bed with no fiber, you'll know the difference between 70% 80% 90% 95% MOTIONLESS. My wife and I prefer 90% because the slight rocking motion we find comforting when you move. (90% stops moving in about 3-5 seconds.)I was really really reluctant to give up my first mattress. But I did get 41 years out of it!! I wanted to patch it but the more I thought about it after examination of the hole, the plastic was at the point where it was cracking not puncturing. My reluctance to part with it was that I heard about the newer water bags were much THINNER and lower quality... Let me just say this. DON'T BUY INTO THAT B.S. - Yes, they are thinner but MUCH STRONGER. (Think about how many times you bought something with plastic coating on it and had to get a knife to open it because your fingers would not push through. THIS WATER BAG IS VERY STURDY!! Having sold them, I was really impressed - do not believe these reviews they don't know what they are talking about when they say that. Admittedly, this mattress EXCEEDS the quality of my old one!Once we filled the mattress (water bag as I call them) - it fit the bed perfectly. I filled it with cold water instead of mixing warm so my heater took about 2 days to heat up. Sleeping on the recliner for 2 days made the anticipation unbearable! I was still skeptical on its practicality. (BTW - I purchased the extra lumbar version which has extra fiber at the upper torso end.) --- My wife and I finally got to sleep in the bed. OMG!!!! I hadn't had a sleep like that in ages!!! I didn't want to get out of bed in the morning! This mattress is really the ticket... Folks- if this is your first time waterbed experience, take it from an old Hippie!!! This is the one! If you are truly a waterbed cultist like me --- you will love it!!!One final set of instructions for the new-bee: #1 Make sure when you put the mattress in place, it is EVENLY DISPERSED all the way around the bed frame, not only side-to-side but corners too! #2 DO NOT plug in your heater until the bed is full. (And the heater goes underneath your liner not between the mattress and the liner or you'll damage your mattress. #3 Pay the extra and get a stand up liner. Worth every dime! in an emergency. #4 Fill the mattress about 3 inches. Stop the water, and go all the way around the bed - pick up your mattress on the sides, top, foot, back, and corners only about 4 inches and LET IT DROP. This will seat your mattress properly. Failure to seat it, may give you a lopsided effect and creases in the mattress underneath... #4 Buy yourself a good mattress pad . The ones that come with your bed SUCK. Find one with a nice padded surface, and a mesh elastic sides so it will fit about 4 inches underneath the mattress and will not come loose. Tuck in all corners first, and then go around the bed and tuck in the areas in between. You need a good mattress pad because it will prevent dehydration of your body. This is the only 1 backdrop with a waterbed. It will dehydrate you if your temperature is too low, (I keep mine @ 85-90 deg. depending on time of year) or if you do not have a good mattress pad.Well that's about it - a book on waterbeds - bottom line on the review - This is one of the best mattresses I ever saw... Don't even listen to the other reviews! If you are a waterbed person, like me you will be very happy --- if not.... buy a vibrator!

In process
After a month of repairs, we are finally to the point of filling the mattress. That being said, I hope the instructions on the mattress are better than the ones that came with the bed. (Paper insert) I was looking for a video to help with the filling since there are two fill ports on the top of the mattress, but "no."I will update once the mattress is filled. Fingers crossed.

Great Product !!!
I purchased this water mattress after reading the glowing review from "L" (The self-described 60's left-over Hippie!!). It sounds like "L" may have a few years on me, as we've only had our waterbed since 1983 and this is now our 3rd mattress. Our 1st mattress was not waveless (we were young) and lasted a long time but was damaged in a move, our 2nd mattress was waveless and was only 7 years old but mysteriously developed a small leak and it just seemed like it might be better to replace it than try to repair it. So, I purchased this new mattress! We've had it for a few days now and so, far my wife and I are very pleased. It fits perfectly in our Cal-King hard-side wooden bed frame, it seems very well made (in the USA so that's a bonus IMHO!!!) using a heavy black vinyl material, it has dual filling/draining ports with the standard plastic caps, and I think it really minimizes the motion of the water, better than our old one did!Let's be real - It is just a big bag of water filled with a batting material inside to impede the water's movement so it's not like there are a bunch of wiz-bang cool features to report on or review, but quality counts and this product, so far, seems like it was a really good choice.Let's hope this is the last water mattress I will need to buy!

Could be worse
Well first off, it’s not 50% motionless, it’s a thin mattress, should be ok, but if your looking to not move during the night, not the right mattress for you

Comfortable Mattress
Followed instruction and was easy to install. Have slept on it for a week now and I am very happy with my purchase. The lumbar support is there but not like a regular mattress of coarse. When changing position while sleeping mattress really doesn't bounce at all. If your looking for comfort this is a good one to buy. Inspecting the mattress while installing I felt it was and still is a strong and quality built water bed mattress that's made in the USA.
