The Specials are an English 2 Tone and ska revival band formed in 1977 in Coventry. In 1980, the song "Too Much Too Young", the lead track on their The Specials AKA Live! EP, reached No. 1 in the UK, with the unemployment-themed single "Ghost Town" also hit No. 1 in the UK Singles Chart in 1981. The Specials was ranked among the top ten "Albums of the Year" for 1979 by NME. In June 2000 Q placed The Specials at number 38 in its list of the 100 greatest British albums ever. Pitchfork Media featured The Specials at number 42 in their list of the "Top 100 Albums of the 1970s". Rolling Stone listed the album at number 68 in their list "100 Best Albums of the Eighties", as the album was not released in the US until 1980. Influential two tone
Top drawer stuff this. Just as influential now as always. With the country in as a mess now as well as it was back in 80 when I first heard it. The ska punk fusion is fantastic not a bad track on it and the fact you get too much too young ep on it which I used to have on vinyl also. Absolute belter of an album. And I still play it too this day and have upgraded to this great version.

Excellent re-master with second disc of additional tracks, including some live versions (I have some of these already from previous compilations). A great album before the band in-fighting and power struggles took place during the time of the also excellent 2nd LP, 'More Specials' which also has a re-release and is well worth getting.

My all time favourite album. I loved it in '79 and I still love it in '15! Saw them live last year and it was like being a teenager all over again. The best album from the Ska revival in the late 70s.

alors là on rentre dans le top du style two tone,avec des versions de standards jamaicains en live medley(long shot,skinhead moon stomp,) sur le cd2 qui resteront dans l'histoire de la musique,j'ai une préférence pour le titre avec l'intro au trombone du regretté Rico Rodrigez...du concentré de bonheur et irrésistiblement l'envie de danser...attention de ne pas confondre avec l'album simple one cd,celui ci est un double cd et sur la photo un des musicien a une valise a la main.
