Can this be used for a right sided door opening?

It seems very hard to turn lock, is this normal or did I receive a malfunction lock?

The operation of the thumbturn should be effortless when properly installed. However, there are two situations where you may encounter difficulty with the thumbturn. The first scenario is when the mounting plate is not perfectly centered within the door knob hole. Additionally, excessive tightening of the mounting plate can also lead to this issue. To resolve this, we recommend loosening the two mounting screws by one or two full turns, repositioning the lock plates and latch mechanism to ensure proper alignment, and then tightening the screws by hand, ensuring not to overtighten them. If the problem persists despite these adjustments, please remember that our product is covered by a one-year warranty.
