I think they are a perfect mind development tool
This item was purchased for a young man 12 years old. We weren't sure when we purchased it if he would be into blocks at his age. These "blocks" are apparently considerably more than blocks. He has learned how to build several structures he thought were intriguing and interesting. In addition, one older and one younger sibling are both using these blocks to build various interesting items. We'll probably add to these for a birthday or other occasion. I think they are a perfect mind development tool.

Very Expensive, but Great for a certain type of builder
If your child likes to build using legos or other materials according to directions and has little interest in creative building, they may not appreciate this. The advantage to these pricey building blocks is in their uniformity. They are not warped and are cut very precisely so as to maximize stability in large structures. The larger the structure you create, the more detail you can incorporate. Think about a sketch of a bicycle that is drawn using nothing but identicle short straight lines. If only 10 lines are used, it may not look much like a bicycle, but if 100 lines are used, then it will be unmistakeable. Unlike sketching, in construction, balance is a factor, so for this reason, these blocks are a great tool for the developing engineering mind. I think they will be used differently as the kids hit different stages of their childhood, to demonstrate more advanced skills of creative design.

LOVE these blocks!
Got these last year for the boys for Christmas, they were ages 4 and 7. They have been played with EVERY day since. And we have added to the set with more blocks. I love to build with them, too. Best blocks I ever bought. Great for them to use imagination and combine with other toys to play for hours. My kids build towers and tracks and houses and stairs, you name it. Then they add lego guys and other figures to play in them.

One of, if not THE, best toys I've ever purchased.
It's late August and I first purchased a set of Kapla blocks at Christmas. I can say with certainty that this is one of the only toys to get regular play time 8 months later. I originally bought one box of 200 for my nieces & nephew and one box of 50 for myself. Once the other adult family members realized how fun and smart the blocks were, the collection grew to over 700! The kids are constantly trying new designs and building things with more precision...and when they walk away to do something else, the adults jump in and try their own designs! I can say with confidence that very few other toys have received as much play-time as these simple little wood blocks have.

Simple with room to spark imagination
I guess this is a classic based on the reaction this got from the adults who played with it as kids. I'm just starting my journey as a grandmother and am adding what I hope are great toys and games that will last. This is a simple wooden set of wooden blocks that can grow with kids. The more they grow, the more they can use their imagination to build structures. I need to see this in action with kids more to see how well loved they will be but I have a good feeling about them. I also got magna tiles and they are definitely a thumbs up.

Very creative
This toy is very nostalgic for me. There are so many creative ways to use it. There are so many blocks in this box. I bought it as a gift for my nephew. Great for all ages boys or girls

wonderful blocks for all ages
This is a great product. Our kids (girl 7 and boy 9) have played with them at a local discovery museum, and spent a lot of time doing crazy constructions. Teenagers and toddlers were playing too, all of them so focused on their creations (no time and energy wasted looking for the right piece - this is such a great concept: all the pieces are the same)! We got the 200 pieces set, and that seems to be just enough for now... They also last and don't go out of style : my niece is playing with the set that belonged to her mom!

Kids Love It
We initially found them at the Brooklyn Children's Museum and the kids spent about an hour entranced with them. While sitting there I noticed that museum employees would come and build things with the Kapla blocks on their break. Yep, fun for everybody - their simplicity belies their addictiveness! I recommend getting one of the building books, it helps with finding things to build.

Well made and versatile toy
I bought Kapla as a Christmas present for 5 year old grand-daughter, at her Dad's request. It didn't get much attention on Christmas Day, but it's being used with enthusiasm now some of the other gifts have been used up/broken, and was also played with a lot by our other grandchildren who were staying over - there were so many in this pack that no-one quarreled about not having enough bricks. I can see it's something which will appeal enormously to a certain type of child (not all) because of the pleasing way the parts fit together and the fact that it doesn't limit the imagination. Her Dad really likes it too! It reminds me of the years of fun my brother and I had during the late '40s and 50s with a construction toy called Lott's Bricks. These were bricks of imitation stone in about 8 different sizes, which (when new) fitted together just as pleasingly, though were much heavier. Does anyone remember them?

bellissimo regalo!
