purchased for my dad who has cataracts.. it's very good. with a good light but because he's in his late eighties and has athritis - he found it too heavy to use...it's good quality however and made of glass.one issue is I had to pack the battery compartment with a small piece of rubber. otherwise if you drop the magnifying glass the batteries tend to dislodge inside the compartment

Magnifier is good though a little cloudy however the early days are not powerful enough I do not illuminate the subject to the degree required

As a person with macular degeneration I would not recommend this magnifier for anyone in my situation. For a start it came with no instructions as to how to insert batteries. I finally found how by accident. It is heavy and not easily portable. The LED light are not bright enough for me and I am disappointed with it. I bought it because I lost my own one that was given to me by the local hospital eye clinic so that I can read. It is not anything like as good as the one I lost. I will probably return it and contact the hospital for a replacement.
