SLK 320 crank sensor.
Correct part and considerably cheaper than Mercedes. Used on Mercedes M112 V6 petrol engine among others. Appears to be a genuine part. Fitted well and works faultlessly. Engine now starts and runs as it should.

This was an identical drop in replacement for the original 14 year old Bosch OEM part. Cosmetically and dimensionally it was truly identical (except for the dirt and oil on the old one). Removal was easy enough, however as others have noted the real issue is working in the tight spaces and unclipping and re-clipping the connector. The difficulty of that is not with this replacement part, but rather the zero car end cable slack and impossible awkward space you have to work with. I had to find an assistant with a smaller arm and smaller hands to push up from below as I wormed in and stabilized the other half from the top. 30 minutes to get the old one out and unclipped, 2.5 hours to re-clip it, 15 minutes to fit and install the sensor. Put the key in, turned, and fired up instantly. VERY happy. ---- This part absolutely fixed my no start issue!!!!! -------- Post new sensor install it has consistently started and had no further hesitation or stalls and in fact seems to have more power. Original Symptoms / tips in case it helps others ====================================== - Sensor failed without any warning or symptom - Car started fine, Drove to work, but that afternoon it would not start, only crank - Car did start once after it was pushed out and with a jump (probably not needed) but that was it's last start - Car lost power and almost stalled for about 30 seconds once on the 6 mile drive home. - Parked car and turned it off. After that it would endlessly crank but never started again. - Car reported no error codes, no check engine light, and the only warning was the red battery icon when key was on - Check engine light was never lit suggesting any issue. - Battery tested fine and even after replacing, the car would simply crank and never even attempt to start - Pulled a spark plug and in the dark it was clear it was not being sent any charge and not attempting to spark - With the bad sensor the car had no idea how the crankshaft was oriented and what piston to send spark at any point to so is sent nothing - As you remove the old one carefully inspect / watch the spacers holding the sensor in place. - Be sure to return them to the same side and orientation they were originally in. - STRONGLY suggest using a ratcheting box end 7mm and 8mm wrench to work in the impossibly tight space. Overall a quality part and it will save you $100's over a dealership repair. Highly recommend.

This is an OEM brand, comes in OEM packaging, and works like OE. Replacement part: It works identical to the original part, and is the same brand as the part that came out of my VW. No rough edges, no plastic bleed, no issues with the ECU. Ease of installation: This plugs in like it was the same part they used on the factory line (hint, it is). This works identical to the original part, and I wouldn't use any other brand sensor since this is the factory part. Sensor quality: Hasn't quit on my yet. It works well, plugs in smooth (some cheaper sensor connectors can be too tight of a fit, or so loose they let water in your connector. Not this one), and You couldn't tell this wasn't factory. Same exact plastic, same o-ring, came connector, same length wiring, everything. Ease of replacement: Because this is the exact same part they use at the factory, this plugs in like it. There's no trimming the sensor, or the o-ring being too tight. It's a perfect fit, and will last another 20 or so years like the factory part did.
