Jabra Solemate Mini Bluetooth and NFC Wireless Speaker System - Red

I went to PC World and Curry's to try all the speakers and the Jabra was the easiest to connect to and the sound was nice and full. They didn't have the Jabra in stock, so went to buy it on Amazon...saving myself about £10 in the process which was nice. I bought this device largely to be able to play music from my Samsung S3 and Nexus 7 while cooking, and also to take on holiday and to the beach. The device is so easy to use, however, that my 6 year old son connects this to his HTC desire and Nabi 2 and uses it for music, playing games, etc. To use: Simply press down the button in the middle for about 4 seconds.. a great booming voice says "Solemate is ready to connect..." and then turn on your bluetooth device and the Jabra will be found. Press connect on your device, and then in a few seconds the Jabra voice will boom..."Solemate connected." At that point, any sound which woudl ordinarly come from your devices speaker will now come from the Jabra. For some, it might be slightly annoying to have the large booming voice when you start to connect...but I laugh nearly every time and love it. The only tricky device to attach to the Jabra with bluetooth was a laptop (which were Windows 7 and 8), where I needed to go into 'Sound Devices' properties, and disable the usual speaker and enable the Jabra one--and also ensure that bluetooth was turned on for the laptop which is in 'Bluetooth devices', but phones and tablets (running a variety of androids in my house) all worked instantly and did not require any tinkering.

Have been looking at something like this for a while as a travelling device. Considered FOXL but this has better sound, UE boombox but this is cheaper, and Bose Mini - best for sound and quality in my view, but double the money and triple the weight, so on those two counts it's off radar. Back to the Solemate: + it's small and light enough for packing in a suitcase (just) + truly funky design - hand it to the Scandies, they know a thing or two about design + rubbery grip all round and the grippy base + love the way the accessory cable winds into the base + best of all: audio is excellent, warm and bassy enough though don't expect a miracle, sparkly highs + at £60 or so a good deal compared to the market options + very simple controls + paired effortlessly with W7 laptop, Android smartphone (Note III) and Android tablet (Xperia Z) - Jabra do a cheap but quite good waterproof carry bag for other products, I'd have appreciated some such for this little guy and would've paid the extra. As it is, no enclosed carry bag - sound can distort for some audio feeds, even when you turn down the volume at feed source - a truly annoying announcement every time you switch it on to let you know it's on (why?) followed by an equally annoying announcement stating it's now successfully paired. Both at full volume for god's sake and no way to switch them off in the menu. Aside from that last point - with which you just have to live - this is a delightful bluetooth mini-speaker that packs a punch way above its weight (literally), and offers stonking value compared to the others on the market. Absolutely no regrets.

This is my second Solemate Mini in 3 years. I in fact bought it for my 81 year old aunt who has just bought a Moto G4. She wanted a portable speaker for her many holidays. (This month alone Vendor for one week then a 3 week Caribbean cruise then back for Christmas for a rest.) I showed her my original and she was very impressed. She doesn't like spending money but finally decided to buy a red Solemate Mini for the silly price of £24.49. At 81 she is not the most tech savvy of individuals. She rang me & in 5 minutes was playing Elvis through speaker. 3 of these minutes were due to confusion using Play Music app. Really is so simple. I am surprised that the device is not delivered with a charging plug/cable. I know it's a micro SD cable but even so it should all be in the box. I was happy to introduce her to the world of the Solemate Mini. As for the volume, I am always being told to TG urn it down as it's too loud. My only complaint is that the second one was cheaper than the first & the red is a lot funkier than the original black

This speaker has good and bad qualities. It's small, portable and loud but there have been some connection issues and for some reason if it's left connected to my laptop with nothing playing for a while, the sound then plays jerkily when I play something and it needs to be disconnected and reconnected before it will work properly again. However this does not happen when it is connected to my phone and if it were not for this it would be a good speaker.

Bought 3....unable to charge 2 now after only 3 months....1 did not work at all......Whilst great sound....highly disappointed with charge procedure....big no no.

I have a Solemate Mini and a Solemate Max that both have good sound for their size. I would recommend the Solemate mini above this speaker. This speaker lacks bass and sounds tinny compared to similar products of competitors. Unfortunately I understand the Jabra Sound app to control the sound settings has been discontinued. I received the following message from Jabra customer services. When it was introduced nearly half a decade ago, Jabra Sound was revolutionary in that was one of the first mobile audio experiences that delivered high quality Dolby sound. When used with a pair of Jabra headphones or music speakers you could finally take your Dolby sound experience out of your home and with you wherever you went. Unfortunately as consumer behavior changes, the shift from offline or purchased music towards streaming only services means the Jabra Sound application no longer provides a consumer experience that matches today’s consumption habits. We are therefore discontinuing support for the app and have removed it from both the iOS and Android stores. Therefore it will no longer be available for download. Due to recent operating system upgrades you will also find that the application will no longer work with iOS 11 forward. Future Jabra products now allow for audio customization directly in the headphones themselves, catering for the massive demand in streaming services and the customer demands to use the service they like and not be limited by headphone manufacturer applications. Products like Jabra Elite Sport for example already include this ability.

What a great little device - nice design, very simple to set up and operate. My technophobe partner had it up and running in no time! The sound quality is impressive too for such a small speaker. You're not going to use it at your party, but it's perfect for streaming music from a phone or tablet at a reasonable volume and MUCH improved quality over both. Great package and good value.

Great little speaker for the money. I paid sub £30 and the sound is very nice and can fill the room quite nicely. Didnt find it tinny in the slightest and easy enough to connect to my phone and echo dot. Rubber sole keeps it from dancing around at high volume which is a nice touch. Not exactly Bose quality but excellent for the price. A lot of punch for its size as well which was surprising. I would highly recommend this wee speaker.

L'ho portato in vacanza smxin me in Puglia usato tutti i giorni per far ballare mia figlia e non si è ancora scaricato!!!! Suono potente per le dimensioni dell'oggetto anche da usare come sottofondo musicale ad una cena fra amici. Non distorce anche al massimo volume.

Jabra solemate mini, suena sorprendente mente bien, tiene graves lo cual me sorprende, a volumen máximo suena suficiente para llenar una habitación mediana o tener música ambiente alta en un salón, la batería dura bastante. Como contra decir que le faltan un pelis de agudos en determinadas canciones pero lo compensa con una genial calidad de construcción, buena autonomía y genial potabilidad. Es el segundo producto de jabra que compro y el segundo acierto en todos los aspectos. Volvería a cómpralo y sin duda lo recomendaría a cualquiera que quiera un altavoz pequeño y que no suene a lata.

Da hier leider die Rezensionen für Solemate Mini, Solemate und Solemate Max vermischt in einem Topf liegen - Bei meiner Rezension geht es hier um den Solemate Max. Kurz und bündig: Meine Suche nach einem wirklich klangstarken Bluetooth-Speaker hat endlich ein Ende gefunden! Der dänische Hersteller Jabra kann's einfach! Sind bereits der Solemate Mini und der Solemate jeweils in ihrer Größen- und Preisklasse top, legt der Solemate Max tonal noch eins dazu (ja wir haben alle drei Solemate-Familienmitglieder in der Familie). Für mich ist der Max bei den (gerade noch) tragbaren BT-Speakern in allen Disziplinen Referenz, und ich habe wirklich schon viele gehört, von gaaanz billig NoName bis hochpreisig Marke. Bei den billigen gibt es durchaus einige positive Überraschungen aber leider auch wesentlich mehr Enttäuschungen. Bei den teureren gibt es eher weniger Unerwartetes, die spielen durch die Bank auf sehr ordentlichem Niveau, aber auch nicht mehr und auch nicht weniger. Dem Jabra Solemate Max konnte bis jetzt allerdings keiner das Wasser reichen. Punkto Klarheit, Brillanz, Dynamik, Druck, Lautstärke, Autorität, ehrlichem Bass ist er schlicht unerreicht. Das Design ist durchdacht (z.B. leicht nach hinten geneigt, um eine bessere Abstrahlcharakteristik zu erreichen; großer, vertrauenserweckender und haptisch angenehmer, gummierter Griff) klar, stilsicher, trotzdem modern, ungewöhnlich und einzigartig und mit hohem Wiedererkennungswert, aber in edler skandinavischer Zurückhaltung ohne Schnickschnack oder überflüssigen und meist funktionslosen und aufgesetzten Gimmicks wie Partygeblinke oder martialischer Tactical-Optik. Die kluge Materialwahl, die gesamte Haptik, die Robustheit und die wertige Verarbeitung sind über jeden Zweifel erhaben und alles absolut outdoor-tauglich gestaltet. Hier gehen echte 90 Watt RMS ans Werk, die ihre Fortsetzung in zwei hochwertigen Tiefmittelkonus- und zwei Hochton-Hochleistungstreibern (Seidenkalotten) finden und von einer großen, gut abgestimmten Bass-Passivmembran (L 235 x B 92 mm !) tiefenmäßig unterstützt werden, die alle auch einem besseren HiFi-Regallautsprecher gut zu Gesichte stünden - und das hört man deutlich! Pegelfest, hoher erreichbarer und unverzerrter Schalldruck (110 db SPL in 0,5m !), straffer und trockener Bass mit ordentlichem Pegel bis, mit dem Frequenzgenerator gemessenen, 37 Hz!!! - Und ohne dabei, meist auf Kosten der Präzision, künstlich aufgebläht zu wirken. Warum Jabra bei den Specs sehr bescheiden und konservativ einen Frequenzgang von nur 120 Hz bis 20000 Hz tiefstapelt, ist mir ein Rätsel, der Max kommt ohne nennenswerten Pegelabfall gut anderthalb Oktaven tiefer, die vorsichtige Angabe zeugt aber von einem sehr seriösen Hersteller - oft sind die Herstellerangaben ja eher überzogen, nach dem Motto: Papier ist geduldig. Das alles ist top und verdient den Titel HiFi, ein Wort, das mir bei den meisten anderen Mitbewerbern selten einfällt. Sogar ein wenig Stereobühne ist (in kurzem Hörabstand) aufgrund der Breite des Max wahrnehmbar. Bei den meisten anderen höre ich entweder nur mono, oder unnatürliches DSP-3D. Die Akkulaufzeit ist aufgrund des großen Li-Ion-Akkus (24,5 Wh) sehr gut, selbst wenn das zuspielende Handy oder Tablet etc. gleichzeitig vom Max geladen wird, meist lade ich den Max bei moderater Tagesnutzung von vielleicht 1,5 Stunden und forcierter Zimmerlautstärke nur alle zwei Wochen. Bluetooth 3.0 und NFC sind an Bord, der bessere aptX-Codec für die Bluetooth-Übertragung leider nicht, aber für mich ist das nicht von größerer Bedeutung, ich möchte Musik so oder so möglichst gar nicht datenreduziert hören, deshalb kommt bei mir immer das gute alte, analoge AUX-Kabel als Verbindung zum Einsatz. Als Freisprechspeaker funktioniert der Max ebenfalls tadellos, beide Seiten sind gut zu hören, vorausgesetzt man spricht nicht allzu weit vom Max entfernt, aber das ist bei allen Freisprechern so, Wunder gibt es da keine. Wen die englischen Statusmeldungen stören, kann diese per Tastendruckmenü auch ausschalten, mich stören sie nicht weiter. Ich möchte hier aber nicht den Eindruck einer allzu enthusiastischen Rezension erwecken, deshalb gleich auch zu den paar negativen Seiten (man findet bei näherer und kritischer Betrachtung ja immer irgend etwas): Dass der Max groß (L 302 x B 102 x H 138 mm) und schwer (gewichtige 3 kg !) ist lässt bereits sein Name ahnen und ist mit Sicherheit Jeder/Jedem bekannt die/der ihn kauft und damit des Max' größtes Manko - Schnell mal in die Tasche stecken ist nicht - aber von nix kommt eben auch meist nix (seltene Ausnahmen ausgenommen - z.B. dieser bekannte böse (im positiven Sinne) Mini ohne ö-Stricherln). Die Bluetooth-Verbindung neigt bei mir nach ca. 10 m Sichtverbindung bereits zu Aussetzern und/oder stark datenreduzierter (bröselnder) Musikwiedergabe, ich kann aber natürlich nicht ausschließen dass das senderseitig an meinem Smartphone eines japanischen Markenherstellers liegt, der aber mutmaßlich sagen würde: "So nie!", oder an anderem, interferierendem Funk aus der Umgebung, deshalb lasse ich dies auch unbewertet, da mir hier die objektive Beurteilung nicht möglich ist. Es liegt ein proprietäres, etwas voluminöseres Netz-Ladegerät als gewohnt, mit Hohlstecker bei, das vermutlich auch ein kleineres Notebook mit Strom versorgen könnte (16V, 3A, 48W) - Also schnell mal unterwegs den Max mit dem microUSB-Handylader aufladen geht deshalb leider nicht. Umgekehrt kann aber das Handy aufgrund der Maxschen Powerbank-Funktion vom Max per USB-Buchse geladen werden. Der Akku ist nicht ohne Weiteres und ohne Garantieverlust vom User tauschbar. Der Akku meines Max war übrigens bei Ankunft tiefentladen, was A ungewöhnlich und B schädlich für Li-Ion-Akkus ist (wie übrigens auch der 100%-Vollladezustand) - Deshalb sind Geräte mit Li-Ion-Akkus bei Auslieferung meist in einem Bereich von etwa 30% bis 80% vorgeladen. Da mein Max nach dreimaligem Ladezyklus aber seine Sollkapazität und Standzeit erreicht hatte, habe ich auf einen Umtausch verzichtet - Es sollte aber grundsätzlich Jede(r) über einen Umtausch nachdenken, die/der ein solches Gerät tiefentladen erhält, da Langzeitschäden am Akku dann nicht ausgeschlossen sind. Der empfindlichste Teil beim Outdoor-Einsatz sind die vorder- und rückseitigen Lautsprechergrills aus gelochtem und lackiertem Stahlblech, die materialbedingt anfälliger für Dellen und Lackabplatzer sind als Plastik, aber eben auch wertiger und von der Materialstärke her ausreichend robust ausgelegt sind. Die downloadbare Jabra Sound App für Smartphones und Tablets ist, wohlwollend ausgedrückt, schlicht und bietet wenig Mehrwert. Eine Dolby-Klang(verschlimm)besserung und eine Modellerkennung mit entsprechender, automatischer Equalizerkorrektur, sowie eine eher durchschnittliche MP3-Player-Funktion. Naja, ist eben auch mit dabei, könnte aber ein wenig mehr Aufmerksamkeit und Zuneigung seitens der Software-Entwicklungsabteilung vertragen ;-) Fazit: Wer mit Größe, Volumen und Gewicht klarkommt, bekommt einen wirklich aus der bereits fast unüberschaubaren Masse der BT-Speaker herausragenden, klangstarken und gerade-noch-tragbaren (im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes) Mobil-Speaker aus der leider eher seltenen No-Nonsense-Liga. Im Hinblick dessen, dass der Max einen (vom Hersteller bereits reduzierten) Listenpreis von USD 300 (Stand Feb. 2016) aufweist, sind die aktuellen, etwa EUR 140 Straßenpreis für den in jeder Hinsicht hochwertigen Max ein wahres Schnäppchen - Falsch kann man hier definitiv nichts machen, nur tragen muss man eben mögen ;-) Meine vergebenen fünf Sterne sind verdient und ich schreibe sie fett und doppelt unterstrichen! Bravo Jabra für die Innovation und den wirtschaftlichen Mut, so einen außergewöhnlichen und hochwertigen Boliden für anspruchsvolle Hörer auf den Markt zu bringen!
