Interview with an American Auteur
Chris Rodley's revised edition of Lynch on Lynch is a fascinating (if at times frustrating) read. Lynch is occasionally elusive and refuses to divulge much about the meanings behind his films. This sometimes hits a false note in terms of the filmmaker's creative process, even though it seems like a conscious effort on his part to maintain an aura of mystery. However, Rodley still tries valiantly to get the notoriously taciturn director to open up a little bit. There are chapters on such masterpieces as Eraserhead, The Elephant Man (my own personal favourite of Lynch's works), Dune (a particularly fascinating chapter about the poisoned chalice that is Hollywood), Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, Lost Highway, The Straight Story and his 2001 magnum opus Mulholland Drive. Rodley asks a lot of probing and intelligent questions, and he clearly has a profound understanding of Lynch's filmography as well as his work as a painter, photographer, poet and all round singular artist. The book traces Lynch's childhood and youth, his first unnerving short films like Alphabet and The Grandmother, and offers insights into his remarkable career that has taken him from the shadowy regions of art cinema to the bright lights of tinseltown, and beyond. Essential reading for movie fans, this book is a rewarding and well-researched journey into the weird and wonderful mind of a true one-off. Buy it now!

For the price and quality excellent
Highly surprised by this it feels like a brand new copy...I know it's an older book but the quality is excellent and as I'm a lynch fan it's a good book to learn about the very strange mindset of him

Worth it for Lynch aficionados.
I’ve been a David Lynch fan since the original Twin Peaks and had got this book 5 years ago. It took me all this time to get round to reading it but it is worth it. Lynch, as is standard, talks a lot while revealing little. Rodley on occasion asks and says some really dumb things but overall this book is worth a read for any Lynch fan.

Dutifully put together and recommended for big David Lynch fans I think
A rare insight into the world of Lynch. Unlike the flawed documentaries that pop up from time to time, this ones the real deal. A collection of interviews where Lynch really opens up, not about meaning of course, but about the events surrounding the making of his work. Dutifully put together and recommended for big David Lynch fans I think.

Lynch on Lynch
A must-read if you are interested in David Lynch, his films or filmmaking in general, this book of in depth interviews is fascinating and insightful. A great and informed interviewer, asking intelligent and thorough questions about Lynch's films, ideas, methods and experiences. I love the way it breaks down each film in Lynch's filmography and allows time to examine the work (up until the time of printing). It would be good to have an updated version with Inland Empire and his digital fascination included. Such an inspiring book if you are a filmmaker.

MALA CALIDAD

Are you kidding me????!
I can read it again and again and again as if I never had. So much information. And the words. What a wonderful way of speaking. Floral. I was so angry at him for “zoning out” for decades in true Hollywood royalty fashion in some world spanning cult(and still am) while we starved but I miss him like crazy anyways. Knowing that he died makes me less afraid of death. Him and Jean Giraud. But it still sucks! So much!!!!! Highly recommended.
