Nascool Electric Nasal Irrigation System with 50 Salt Packets, 2 Modes Nose Cleaner with SelfCleaning & Auto Waste Collection Function for Sinus Relief Runny Nose, Nasal Congestion, Itching Nose

I’d like to share my experience with the Nascool Electric Nasal Irrigation System, which I purchased in early August 2024 on the recommendation of my physician to help relieve chronic nasal congestion. I'm pleased to report that the device has surpassed my expectations, though there were a few surprises along the way. In essence, this system functions as a nasal "colonic." BACKGROUND About the same time, I also purchased a digital gram scale, enabling me to accurately calculate saline solutions (and satisfy my bean-counter inclinations). To track my experience with this device I created a spreadsheet in Apple’s Numbers application. Columns of the spreadsheet are titled as: Date; Isotonic / Hypertonic; g of NaCl; ml distilled H20; % Saline; Comments. A few formulae provide, for example: * “% saline” (C3÷D3)×100, where C3 = grams of NaCl; D3 = ml of distilled H20 * “Isotonic/Hypertonic” IF(E13>0.9, "Hypertonic", "Isotonic”), where E3 = % Saline (Windoze users may be able to adapt these formulae in Excel.) EXPERIENCE My experience with the Nascool Electric Nasal Irrigation System evolved as I became accustomed to the device through usage. Each of the following are my comments, representing a separate occasion of using the device, spread over six weeks from late August: * Challenging the first time [0.9% saline] * 1.9% saline solution no big deal; definite (refreshing) improvement [1.895% saline] * Pronounced improvement: long-lasting ‘after-taste’ diminished; easier process this time [1.99% saline] * Still challenging [3.0% saline] * <30 min start to end; 500 ml in one direction L to R [3.0% saline] * Easier; pushed tongue against upper rear palate. 2nd intake, container was filled slightly higher than max line. [2.016% saline] * Pushed tongue-rear palate too much; pressure built, ears popped @ eustachian. 250ml of the 500m prepared was saved for next time. (Experienced a brief “ouch” moment in left ear. Both ears popped. Only ran about 240ml through this time, but saved remaining solution in provided plastic jar.) [2.6% saline] * Used 240ml from last time. No issues. Had slight sensation of pressure in left ear, just prior to irrigation. [2.6% saline] * 2 cycles, L to R nostrils. For 1st time since using this machine, reduced pressure somewhat at back of throat. In both cycles, briefly stopped mid-way to relieve slight pressure build-up. <—that’s the key; stop-and-go to the end. No issues. 2.6% is the ideal solution. [2.6% saline] * Followed procedure as above. Experimented with 2.7% solution. Relatively easy 1st cycle; 2nd required brief mid-point stops for pressure release. But 2.6% solution is better. [2.7% saline] CLEAN-UP Before using the Nascool Electric Nasal Irrigation System for the first time, I thoroughly disinfected, cleaned, and rinsed the device, using hydrogen peroxide 3% and distilled water. Flushing 500ml of hydrogen peroxide through the device produced a fine silt the first time; subsequent flushes and rinses were 100% clear. After each use, I still flush 200~300ml of hydrogen peroxide through the device, and disinfect and rinse the small parts separately. The parts are laid out on a paper towel to air dry on a tray in a large enclosed space. CONCLUSION While I hold no expectation that the System will cure my nasal maladies, it truly does offer me considerable relief—if temporary—until the need for a refresh arises. In my case, that works out to be about every 10 days. This device is a huge improvement over traditional “neti pot” sinus rinses. The digital scale made it possible for me to tweak the ideal ratio of grams of non-iodized salt (NaCl) to ml of distilled water. When I bought the system, I also purchased 100 packets of Nascool Nasal Rinse Salt. This should provide enough for about 16 irrigation sessions. Each session involves two cycles, each using 220ml of warmed distilled water. For each session, I start by mixing 440ml of distilled water with 11.4 grams of salt to create a 2.6% saline solution, then divide the mixture into two cups of 220ml each. It may be possible to buy larger quantities of non-iodized salt for a significant reduction in price. Thanks to information at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology and the American Academy of Otolaryngology, I will consider adding sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO₃) to the saline solution to improve the nasal-irrigation experience: * NaHCO₃ may act as a buffer, making the solution feel softer * improved pH balance could create a gentler irrigation * NaHCO₃ could help thin out mucus * possible antimicrobial properties BOTTOM LINE For me, the Nascool Electric Nasal Irrigation System is a game changer. I am traveling for work and breath some nasty stuff. I have a Navage at home, but did not want to spend another $100, or have two. $60 dollars was acceptable, so I took a chance on this, despite some reviews. This is smaller but slightly more powerful. It seems like it has more fluid capacity, or at least flushes longer somehow. For the better. I can rinse both sides, I can buy my own sea salt, no pods like Navage. It has a gurgling effect at the end if you keep running it. This seems to add water, air, and turbulence to break stuff up. (Not an advertised feature) just something I noticed. It also has two speeds, I used fast just now, and that was longer than Navage. Like Martha Stewart says, "it's a good thing." I don't write reviews much at all, but wish I read one like mine. I don't know if I will use my Navage now that I have this. More: It has a measuring cup with a thermometer strip for safe warm water. Most important: using this or Navage can be hard to use properly. Water injected into your nose is not natural. Your ears, nose and throat are all connected. If you don't position your diaphragm or tongue correctly, it can flow into your throat, which is uncomfortable. You have to open your airway, do not touch the back of your tongue to the back of your throat. Play with it and it should work. However, these devices state not to use them if you have inner ear problems. I had my wife use it despite the warnings. It can deliver liquid to your ear canals if you have ear issues. The Nascool works, Navage works. But Nascool is better by far. I don't write reviews, I don't work for these people. I just like passing on a good thing if I run across it. This nasal irrigation machine is a game-changer for both adults and children, offering a significant step up from manual saline methods. While it took a couple of attempts to master the technique with a 10-year-old without making a mess, it works flawlessly once you find your rhythm. A standout feature is the included saline container equipped with a temperature-monitoring sticker, which takes the guesswork out of ensuring the water is comfortable and safe. Pro This unit does as advertised. I had always known about netti pots, bus was warry about how to keep them sanitary. Plus, a netti pot pot only works with gravity. This machine has two setting, making it adaptable to your sinus condition. This machine has been a godsend for me, and I would recommend anyone considering it, to buy this Nascool system. Con If there is any issue with this system, it is the thermometer strip. It doesn't work. Also, providing a source for the salt packets would be appreciated.

I have netied. I have Navaged. And I have Nascooled. Back in the day I swore by neti. If I had allergy issues, neti took them out back and taught them a lesson. Then these electric things came out and I got a Navage. It was great. Better and easier to use than neti. But I only occasionally used it and it broke too soon, in my estimation. I didn’t want to pay out that cash again, so I tried Nascool. It’s very comparable to Navage in terms of how well it does its job. But it’s a little better. I think it may have greater thrust and that final suck at the end is very satisfying. I’ve done a lot of nasal irrigating in my day. Like many, neti was my savior for years. I couldn’t imagine anything better. But here it is. 10/10 would recommend.

I must be the only dummy who can't figure this thing out; hence, it's going back. Remove the tanks. How? They are held in with plastic brackets underneath and no way to get brackets off without breaking them. The flat head screw driver they sent doesn't fit into the round hole for removing battery door. I wish the people who say it's easy to assemble were here to help me. Now I need to start all over. I just want to breathe better!

This is very well-made and packaged. It is very sturdy. Unfortunately, it did not help with my congestion or sinus headaches at all. Despite being highly congested, almost nothing came out. I tried using it six times before returning it. It's also a lot of effort each time. I had to boil water and wait for it to cool down to the right temperature. Using it is messy but not uncomfortable. Then, you have to clean up. I would prefer that it use a rechargeable battery because the two included AA batteries get quite a workout, and I am sure they won't last long. The measuring cup with the temperature gauge does not work well enough. One time, it told me the water was "OK." I used it and burned the inside of my nasal cavity because the water was too hot. Test the water with your clean finger to make sure it's not too hot. I had high hopes for this unit, but it did not work for me. However, it might work for others. I can see it being helpful during a cold, but it only clears out the current mucus in your nose. Your body will replenish it in a matter of minutes, so the effort probably isn't worth it.

I was deciding between this nascool or the other one that was advertised by the celebrity, this is hands down the best: it's portable, runs on 2 AA batteries, it's quick, clean, easily reversable, easy cleaning, 2 speeds, doesn't force you to use proprietary saline pods, at around 50 bones, it's high quality, thoughtfully packed, so many add ons. I highly recommend this product. I used to irrigate my nasal passages with NeilMed's squeeze bottles and it would make a big mess, so I rarely used it unless I had a sinus infection or felt a sore throat or cold coming on. Now that I have this Nascool system, it's so quick and easy to irrigate your nasal passages, that I may now irrigate once a week.

Easy to setup and get running, and has all the bells and whistles. Has plenty of saline packets to start off with. Only downside would be the water tank size, I feel it could be bigger. I've been using it every night before bed to help with my CPAP usage. Very comfortable to use, and temperature guide on the bottle helps ensure water is perfect temp!
