my waist is 38 what size should I buy?

I've only purchased 2 belts in my lifetime. In my experience the size of the belt is measured to the middle hole on the belt. I recommend to buy a 38" belt.

What is the buckle made of? is it nickel or 100% stainless steel? tia

Unfortunately I do not have a X-ray fluorescence spectrometer to determine the makeup of the metal, but I can confirm that is a silver colored metal with a satin finish that I beleive is nickle plated. I used a strong magnet as a basic test and it didn't attract to it that shows it has a very low or no steel content. With all due respect, it is only a belt and is works great, so I would worry about the metal content unless you were buying a safety harness belt for work. I wear the belt every day to hold up my pants and the metal is not wearing off or peeling.
