Incredible cam at a reasonable price
This small camera has an amazing picture. Small enough to hide in an inconspicuous place, and set-up is a breeze. I bought this because I've used TP Link/Tapo products for years and never had any issues with connection or failure. The subscription to real time alerts is nominal when you consider most security systems with monitoring are quite expensive. If you're not into real time alerts, you can still use the sd card system to record events. Do not hesitate to buy!

Goodbye Wyze, hello Tapo!
I’ll be writing this on all the Tapo cameras I’ve recently purchased. (4x C110, 2x C210, 2x C520WS) These are flawless, amazing, and so far ahead of Wyze it’s not even funny. They are massively affordable, truly need no subscription, have fantastic features in their app, can record locally to an SD card; everything you would want. Coming from Wyze (see more below), I didn’t know that cameras were supposed to act like this. I assumed, at Wyze prices, that I was getting what I paid for. But when I finally had enough constant stress and spent the money to change to Tapo… my life has been changed. Seriously, I probably added years to my life not being so stressed out all the time because my cameras never, ever worked right. These do, and I cannot say it enough times… if you’re currently using Wyze then get one of these. Use it for a week side-by-side and tell me what you think. Super light, have a few of mine mounted with ‘hard plastic velcro’ (3M Dual Lock). Setup is fast and easy, and works right away. Don’t have to do it over and over again (Wyze). Clarity is superb - 1440p quality. Night vision is phenomenal. Don’t really care about ‘color’ night vision - but my outdoor ones do have it. And one of the best parts is Tapo is part of TP-Link. What does that mean? TP-Link has been around for a very long time, and they specialize in networking equipment, LoL. So yeah, if you want a reliable camera on your network, who better to trust than a networking company. TLDR: Don’t waste your time on any other brand. Buy these. I promise you won’t regret it. About Wyze: If you’re like me and never wanted to spend thousands on home monitoring and security, then you may have stumbled upon Wyze cameras. At first, they were amazing - very affordable with no subscription necessary. And they worked. Over time, that changed drastically as they ventured into making everything else on the planet instead of focusing on their roots (cameras). They funded that stuff by changing to a subscription policy. And in their haste had multiple security breaches and problems such as other people viewing cameras that aren’t theirs. This is of course while the software and hardware has become so incredibly bad that they’re unusable. I mean, they actually do not function 92% of the time. Whether it’s freezing, not connecting, stuttering so bad that it looks like a PowerPoint presentation, app for closing, etc.

The TP-Link Tapo 2K Indoor Camera: A Surprisingly Excellent Choice
As someone who has delved into the world of home security cameras, purchasing and testing models from Meross, Ubiquiti, Nest, Ring, and others, I've encountered my fair share of unique challenges with each brand. I've even invested over $200 on some Ubiquiti cameras, all in the pursuit of finding the perfect balance of functionality, ease of use, and affordability. However, it wasn't until I came across the TP-Link Tapo 2K Indoor Camera that I felt I had found a device that stood out in the crowded market, especially for a very specific need: ensuring the safety and monitoring of my in-laws who have recently moved into an assisted living community. The aspect of this camera that immediately caught my attention was its affordability combined with its robust feature set, something I had begun to think was impossible to find. Unlike other systems that nickel and dime you for every additional feature, the TP-Link Tapo offers a comprehensive package without the need for a subscription service. This was particularly appealing as it enabled me to keep an eye on my in-laws' well-being without incurring ongoing costs. Installation and setup were astonishingly straightforward. I opted for a 256GB SD card, which was more than adequate for our needs and was incredibly easy to install and configure. This ease of setup is not something I can say for all the cameras I've tested in the past, where sometimes the setup process seemed almost deliberately complicated. The video quality is another point where the Tapo 2K Indoor Camera shines. It delivers crisp, clear images that make it easy to see what's happening, even from a distance. But perhaps the feature that sets it apart the most is the ability to playback footage remotely. This has given me peace of mind, knowing that I can easily check in on my in-laws at any time, from anywhere. Price-wise, the Tapo 2K is unbeatable. Considering the high costs of some competitors' cameras that still require additional outlays for full functionality, the value proposition of the Tapo 2K is clear. It's an affordable, effective solution for anyone looking to secure their home or, in my case, keep a watchful eye on loved ones in a care setting. In conclusion, the TP-Link Tapo 2K Indoor Camera has proven to be a little gem in a market saturated with overpriced and overcomplicated alternatives. Its combination of ease of use, excellent video quality, remote playback capability, and affordability make it a standout option. It's a purchase I've been thoroughly pleased with and would recommend to anyone in a similar situation or anyone looking for a reliable home security camera without unnecessary frills or expenses.

Nice Indoor Camera with AI Detection - Excellent for Business and Baby Monitoring!
I’ve been really impressed with these Tapo cameras and ended up buying them for multiple uses in our business as well as for baby monitoring at home. The setup has been smooth, the software is excellent, and I haven’t had any connection issues at all, which is a big plus for something I rely on every day. The 2K image quality is very good overall, and while it can get a little pixelated when zooming in compared to 4K, I honestly didn’t feel the extra cost was necessary for my needs. The AI detection is a standout feature because it helps identify people on the timeline instead of making you sort through every bit of standard motion, which saves a lot of time. I also like the two-way audio for talking to the kids or staff, and the local storage option via microSD card so no subscription is needed. The power cord is pretty long at least 6 feet, which makes placement easy without extension cords. Night vision is also very clear and well lit, and the daytime image quality is just as strong. For the price, I think these offer excellent value and have been a great fit for both business and home use.

Geofencing works but needs to be more flexible
I’ve been using Eufy cameras for a few years, but their continued lack of working geofencing support made me decide to try Tapo. Long story short, yes Tapo’s geofencing works, but it’s a bit too limited in how it controls cameras. So I’ll keep my Eufy cameras for now, but also keep using this one single Tapo camera where I really need geofencing, limited or not. (Geofencing lets an app control devices automatically based on your location, for instance turning lights on when you arrive home). Setting the camera up in the Tapo app was easy, the video quality is good, and it records and notifies as expected. The camera itself looks like every other inexpensive home home security cam, except it’s the first I’ve seen that has a proprietary non-USB power cord and adapter. That means you can’t easily use a longer cord, and the black cord doesn’t blend in as well. Another difference from other similar cameras I’ve used is that if you designate areas in the camera view to ignore motion (“privacy zones”) those areas are also blacked out in live view and recording. I think that’s overkill. As I mentioned, I’m using the camera with the beta geofencing feature which so far is working reliably. But the camera’s smart actions for arriving and leaving are too limited. The only smart action control you have over the camera when you arrive or leave a location is to turn “privacy mode” on or off. When privacy mode is off, the camera records and notifies normally; but when it’s on, the camera is effectively shut off. I need a third option that’s not as drastic, where the camera keeps recording but it won’t notify me. That way when I’m home I wouldn’t get unwanted notifications, but if something happened in the middle of the night, it would still get recorded. (I know I could create another time-based smart action to turn off privacy mode at bedtime, but then I would start getting nuisance notifications again in the morning). Overall I think this is a good camera - but the app, although easy to use, is just a bit too limited in flexibility if you want home/away camera control. Hopefully Tapo will make improvements.

Great camera for the price. No subscription.
I ditched my Yi cameras due to the issues with the app and the new requirement for subscription services. I purchased these and I couldn’t be happier with this purchase! The Tapo TP-Link 2K security camera delivers exactly what I was looking for: simplicity, clarity, and peace of mind—without locking me into a subscription. • Ease of Use: Setup was a breeze. The app walks you through everything step by step, and I had the camera up and running in minutes. Even if you’re not tech-savvy, you’ll find it straightforward. • Camera Clarity: The 2K resolution is outstanding. Day or night, the image quality is crisp and detailed, making it easy to see faces, license plates, or small movements. The night vision is surprisingly clear too. • No Subscription Required: One of the biggest selling points for me is that you can use all the essential features without paying monthly fees. Local storage options and free app controls mean you’re not tied to ongoing costs, which is rare in the security camera market. Overall, this camera combines high-quality performance with user-friendly design. If you want reliable home security without hidden fees, the Tapo TP-Link 2K is a fantastic choice.

Great camera
My neighbor's house was recently broken into and I thought I should take some measures to secure my home a little more. I bought this camera because I wanted something that had local storage and didn't force me to pay a subscription. I was pleasantly surprised by how good of quality this camera is for the price. The Tapo app is easy to navigate and I like the choice of settings. The AI Person detection doesn't always trigger, but the Motion detection will catch them. There's also a Baby Crying sound detection that I haven't tested because, well, no babies here. This camera works perfectly for its intended use for indoors, but I originally bought this thinking I could perch it on the front window sill and aim it through the glass at the front door to deter burglars, see who's knocking on my door, and make the camera harder to steal. This works for the day time, but when night vision turns on (and I haven't found a way to disable this mode) the window screen obstructs the view, so now this camera lives elsewhere. I wish Tapo had a wireless video doorbell that was available in the US (maybe they're working on it), but for now I also have the outdoor camera, as well as the contact sensors to monitor the doors and windows opening. So far I like the system and the price point is a little better than others, especially since cloud storage isn't mandatory (but if you do get it, it's $3.49 a month per device). The only real negative I've experienced is that moving shadows during the day and floating specks of dust at night can set off the motion detection, even on the lowest sensitivity. But probably better to be too sensitive than not enough.

The Perfect Remote Monitor for a Bambu P1S Setup
I picked up the Tapo C111 to keep a constant eye on my 3D printer while it’s running in my basement. Since I often print long, multi-hour projects like articulated figures, having a reliable video feed is essential for catching failures early. Why it’s great for 3D Printing: Clear 2K Resolution: The image quality is sharp enough to see individual layer lines and fine details. It makes it easy to tell if a print has come loose or if "spaghetti" is starting to form. Excellent Night Vision: Since my workspace has limited lighting, the infrared night vision is a lifesaver. I can monitor prints in a completely dark basement without needing to leave the lights on. Motion & Sound Alerts: I have it set to notify me if it detects sudden movement or loud noises. It’s a great peace of mind in case a part fails or the printer starts making unusual sounds. Small Footprint: The camera is compact and easy to mount near the P1S. I was able to position it perfectly to get a full view of the heat bed. A Note on Storage: I really appreciate the local microSD storage option. I don't have to pay for a monthly subscription just to check in on my prints or save a quick clip of a successful project. Final Verdict: For the price, this is a much better monitoring solution than many dedicated "3D printer cameras." It’s easy to set up, the app is responsive, and the 2K feed gives me the confidence to leave my printer running while I’m in another part of the house.

Arrived promptly with USA plugs
Purchased single units previously all had Australian plugs, the price was quoted in AUD for this 4 pack so i made the assumption that Aussie plugs were fitted, Cameras are great but the plug issue is a bit of an inconvenience

Excellent quality for the price
I purchased this 4-pack to monitor the house before we went on vacation, and they worked flawlessly. Each camera came with an individual 30-day trial of their cloud storage, which automatically saves any motion detected footage. Their cloud plan doesn’t save continuous recording, so I bought 512GB micro SD cards instead. I played around with the different resolutions and frame rates offered; I ultimately just went for the full capacity of 2K at 30FPS. For two weeks of continuous recording, it racked up about 200GB on each camera respectively. The 512GB was more than enough, but glad I had it just in case. The app is also ridiculously easy to navigate. Every setting is clearly labeled and making changes was easy. Overall, I am extremely pleased with these cameras and I will likely buy another set to be able to monitor more of my house for a security set-up.
