This book provides a comprehensive description of the Scrum framework backed up by plenty of discussion, illustrations and practical tips. It's an excellent guide for the adoption and ongoing implementation of Scrum. It also covers advanced concepts such as Portfolio Planning, Envisioning and technical debt. Also useful is how the book relates key aspects of Scrum to economic realities by providing cost/benefit calculations to show how they support and affect decision making in the framework. This is excellent material to demonstrate the value of Scrum to commercial stakeholders. The author's accessible style and excellent layout of chapters make it very easy to read. An added benefit is the author's use of a set of icons and diagrams that can be downloaded from the books website and used in internal presentations.

Agile software development has managed to stabilise and sufficient in-the-field evidence accumulate such that a book like this can finally be taken as approaching definitive. As with all methods and approaches your mileage will vary, but you could do little better than to use this as a starting point and guide. I found it both comprehensive and detailed and provided sufficient background, both theoretical and practical, to fuel my excursions into the Agile world.

Good for someone like me which has heaps of Waterfall experience and no agile.The book give lots of comparable scenarios to help explain the SCUM process and gives some interesting insights into many aspects of project behaviour both Agile and Waterfall .I like the way at the end of each chapter there is a nice review summary ,I found this book quite easy to read .Its a good starting place to learn about Agile .

I read this book cover to cover and it is excellent. I knew next to nothing about Scrum but was anxious to learn since I'm starting a new job with an organisation which uses Scrum, and they are sending me on a Certified ScrumMaster course next month. In every aspect covered in the book, I started off each chapter not really understanding where we were going, but by the end of each chapter I understood all concepts covered and was completely on-board with the value of the framework. The examples and analogies are brilliant. I'm sure I'll be referring to this book time and time again over the coming months.

This is a great guide, starting you off with the basics and compounding your knowledge along the way.It's set at a good pace and written in a way that neither patronises or overlooks important information.Couple this with the scrum guide from scrum.org and you're well on your way to passing PSM1.

Good guide for the person, who has already acquired basic scrum skills and wish to evolve the practical application of the methods. Easy to look up and focus on specific topics and disciplines. Good guide that is neither too basic or too elaborate. Highly recommendable.

It’s helping me understand Agile / Scrum better. Very applicable

The book is very readable, nice font, nice diagrams and does go into various issues.Certainly a lot more appealing to the eye than the original Schwaber scrum book, but all that pretty layout and diagrams makes a fairly hefty book, so at over 300 pages it's a big of a commitment to read it.

New to scrum, this book is excellent explains all the best pratices of this method and culture. The different roles, acronymes, steps, etc.... you will get to know them all

Seit 2000 macht Ken Rubin Projekte nach Scrum und bringt das anderen bei - inzwischen mehr als 200 Unternehmen und mehr als 19000 Kursteilnehmern. Jeder Andere hätte mit seinen Kenntnissen und Erfahrungen schon 5 Bücher geschrieben. Zum Glück durfte Ken Rubin das nicht. Seine Frau hat ihm es nämlich nach seinem ersten Buch (Succeeding with Objects, 1993) verboten. Zum Glück hat sie irgendwann ihre Meinung geändert (Frauen;) Aber wer weiß, ob und wann er noch ein Buch schreiben darf.Was heißt es für uns Leser? In nur einem Buch finden wir:- Alle wichtigen Themen (Wann brauche ich Scrum und wann nicht? Sowie Konzepte, Rollen, Planung, Sprinting)- Geballte Erfahrung des Autors- Sehr undogmatische Erzählweise- Viele Herangehensweisen für bekannte Probleme und Fragen (z.B. Was mache ich wenn mein Product Owner keine Zeit hat? Was mache ich mit den Änderungen während des Sprints? Brauche ich User Stories oder kann ich auch anders meine Product Backlog Items formulieren? Was machen Manager in einer Organisation, die nach Scrum arbeitet? Darf eine Person gleichzeitig Scrum Master und Product Owner sein?)- Ständige "Übersetzung" aus dem "Technischen" ins "Monetäre" - alles wird beziffert, sehr praktisch um zwischen Entwicklern und Managern zu vermitteln.- Klare, ja wunderschöne Struktur- Gut formulierte, verständliche und durchdachte SätzeFür wen ist das Buch interessant:- Für alle, die Scrum anwenden wollen oder bereits anwenden - übrigens nicht nur in der Software Entwicklung. Der Autor selbst hat auch z.B. Marketing-Projekte nach Scrum gemacht.- Für alle, die Scrum-Konzepte kennen lernen wollen und das beste für eigene Projekte rauspicken wollen.- Die Kapiteln "Can Scrum help you?", "Agile Principles", "Technical Debt" würde ich allen, die in Software Entwicklung tätig sind, ans Herz legen.Es war ein Vergnügen dieses Buch zu lesen.

It is good book to understand the concept of agile methodology, I used this book and passed my PMP exam on first attempt.
