Excellent video quality and great value for the price
I’m very impressed with the VIOFO A119 Mini 2. The video quality is excellent both during the day and at night thanks to the STARVIS sensor — license plates and details are very clear. The camera is compact and discreet, so it doesn’t block my view while driving. Installation was straightforward, and the app is easy to use. It records reliably, starts automatically with the car, and the footage feels solid and trustworthy. Overall, this dash cam offers great performance, reliability, and value for the price. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality dash cam.

Solid dash cam!
Deciding on what to buy: I slaved over trying to find a quality dash cam without breaking the bank. Hours of reading reviews, I finally decided to pull the trigger on VIOFO. The Mini 2 seemed the best solution for what I was looking for. Bought a 128GB San Disk Max Endurance (only because there was a reasonable price differenced than the VIOFO equivalent), and the polarizing lens. Installation: Watched several videos on installation, I thought I needed to wire it directly into the fuse box, but after a last minute decision, I decided to use my cigarette lighter adapter (which comes with the dash cam). Recording during parking wasn't a need I had so it made sense. Installing on a 2017 Honda Pilot the lighter plugin was perfectly placed to wrap the wire around the passenger side and directly behind the dash. The cord was easily hidden, behind the dash and behind all the panels, it literally took less than 10 minutes to install. I placed the dash cam directly behind the rear view mirror so it was hidden from normal view. But if I needed to get to the dash cam I could look from below or simply move my mirror slightly to gain access to the cam. Very content with the placement. The only thing that wasn't to my liking was how it stuck to the windshield. After placing as per the installation guide, I looked from the outside and noticed there was a reasonably large bubble in the center of the glue pad. I was able to easily pull it off so I retried to stick it on again. Similar results. However after almost a month of use, I have had no issues with it falling off. Time will tell. They do provide a second glue pad in the kit so if it falls off, I'll probably use the new pad. Daily Use: Most of the settings were great out of the box. I think I increased the resolution a little, didn't max that in fear of issues or exceptionally large files. Also set the wifi to 5.8 (I guess that's equivalent to wifi6?). I turned recording audio off as I didn't see that as a need we had. I think that's all I changed. Every time I start up the car, within a few seconds it makes the start up noise and then proceeds to tell me it is recording. Felt like the start up time was very reasonable. After turning off the car, it makes a shutoff noise. No issues in usage. We did go over some rough patch on the interstate through a construction zone and it indicated it was going to lock the recording. Has only happened through that stretch of road so I didn't reduce the accident sensitivity. Felt like that's a good option. Mobile App: Many reviews of other products indicated poor mobile app quality. I must say that I have found the app to be very stable. To connect your phone to the dash cam, hold down the wifi button and it will enable the wifi. I think recording has to be stopped for that to work. Use your phone to connect and you can now make configuration settings to the cam as well as select videos/images to download. My settings save a file every 3 minutes. And with my higher resolution setting, the video files are around 553MB each. Downloading files seemed very fast, consistent, with no issues. I believe you can watch the videos directly streaming from the cam or when you download them you can watch them from the app even if you are not connected to the cam. So far, no issues. One surprising fact was when playing back a recording in the app, at the bottom of the screen it shows the movement of the car on a map. Thought that was a nice little feature. Quality of the video: I'm very content with the quality of the video. The video is crisp, clear both day and night. No issues. Overall: Installation was fast and easy. Daily usage I've had zero issues. Mobile app is easy to use and have no issues. A great buy! Definitely recommend the the Mini 2. Will be buying more for the rest of my families cars.

A119 Mini 2 w/ remote control bundle for semi truck
First to note, this lost 1 star because in the remote control bundle it does not state anywhere that the settings feature is NOT compatible with the A119 Mini 2, only when you view the listing for just the remote control. The remote control settings were an important feature for me because I use this in my semi truck and it's not safe for me to get out of my seat to reach over to the dash cam and I wanted to change the settings of some buttons. If they add this feature to the A119 Mini 2 it will be 5 stars. Anyways, after going over all of the bundles and price comparing the add-ons, I found that for what I wanted, the best value for me was to get the remote control bundle and buy separately the recommended name brand Micro SD card, and also the polarized lense. I did not need the parking feature. I got this to use in both my personal vehicle and in my daily vehicle, a 2020 Peterbilt 579. Because I'm using it in 2 different vehicles, I did not use the double sided sticky for window adhesion provided though it seemed like a very good adhesion. I instead put velcro on the the back of the dash cam and have velcro on the windshield of my Jeep and semi. some shaking is noticable as there is some wiggle with velcro, but it does not disrupt the visibility. I also have the remote control velcro'd on the dash of my semi. The dash cam was smaller than expected in person, especially the screen, but that was only a plus to me as I wasn't too happy with the general appearance of it to begin with(just a style thing, it looks old lol) Instructions were easy to follow and everything works as it should. There are various display settings and I'm not really sure which one I should go with, may consult with my more knowledgeable-on-the-subject fiance. The Micro SD card I got was 256gb and I may get a bigger one still as when you drive for up to 11 hours, you get a lot of footage. There are 3 ways to retrieve footage, the slowest way is through the app over wifi to your phone. it can take 10+ minutes to download a 3 minute video. Now I just hook it up to my computer, except the only downfall is on my computer I don't get thumbnail previews like I do in the app. this can be annoying when trying to find a specific clip. Sometimes there's a little trouble connecting to the dash cam via wifi, but usually all you have to do is close the app and try again. I do have an S10+ so that could have something to do with it being an older phone. It has some weight to it and generally feels and looks like good quality, my fiance is considering getting one for his vehicles. I watched Project Farm's video comparing various brands and models and almost got the A119 V3 when I saw people mentioning the Mini 2 being newer and working better in some departments. Overall I am satisfied with my purchase, and really hope they update the A119 Mini 2 to be compatible with changing the settings on the remote control.

Excellent Dash Cam with Superb Video Quality and Smart Features
I’ve been using the VIOFO Dash Cam A119 Mini 2 for a few weeks now, and I’m genuinely impressed—it’s easily one of the best dash cams I’ve owned! 📹 Video Quality (StarVIS 2 Sensor) The standout feature for me is the StarVIS 2 sensor. Daytime footage is crisp and detailed in 2K at 60fps, and night recordings are surprisingly clear thanks to HDR and the advanced sensor. License plates, street signs, and other details are easy to read, which gives real peace of mind in case you ever need evidence. ⚡ Smooth and Reliable Performance Recording is consistent, and I’ve had zero dropped files or glitches. The combination of 2K@60fps and HDR (at 30fps) means the footage is both smooth and high-contrast—great for capturing fast motion and tricky lighting conditions like tunnels or bright sun. 🗣️ Voice Control The voice control feature is more useful than I expected. Simple commands like “Emergency Lock” let me secure footage without fumbling for buttons while driving. It’s convenient and helps keep my focus on the road. 📦 Compact & Easy to Install The A119 Mini 2 is small and unobtrusive. It doesn’t block my view, and the installation was straightforward—just plug into the 12V outlet and stick it to the windshield. The build feels solid, and the menu system is intuitive once you get the hang of it. 🔌 Power & Parking Mode Options With a proper hardwire kit (optional), this supports parking mode, which is a huge bonus for monitoring your car while parked. Loop recording works perfectly and overwrites old footage without issue. 👍 Final Thoughts Overall, the VIOFO A119 Mini 2 is excellent value for the price. Fantastic video quality, reliable performance, helpful smart features like voice control, and a compact design make it a top choice for daily drivers. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who wants a dash cam that truly delivers when you need it most!

Happy with DashCam purchase
This is my 3rd DashCam. The prior 2 were made by other manufacturers and only lasted a short number of years. My research indicates this VIOFO camera is more reliable and is based on a capacitor, not a battery, which tends to have a shorter life in hot climates. I had no difficulty wiring the camera using an Amazon supplied CERRXIAN OBD Power Cable for Dash Camera OBD2 to Type C Adapter Hardwire Charger Cable. I also installed one of the VIOFO recommended 128G MicroSDX cards for reliability. The image quality is very good. Very clear images, but reading number plates of fast moving cars at a distance is a challenge for even the best camera. The STARVIS 2 Sensor is particularly impressive at night. But requires running at 30fps. However, the 60fps images can look more pixelated than the 30fps images. There are lots of setup parameters and operating options. Having a 5GHZ wireless connection option is essential for downloading large video files. I bought 2 of these cameras. One stopped working after a couple of days. VIOFO technical support sent me instruction to get it restated. This did not work out. They responded by sending me a complete replacement. The VIOFO technical support was pleasant to deal with. I like the way the camera announces "recording started" each time the camera restarts. This adds confidence. The camera is small and hides behind my rearview mirror. I can't see the camera screen while driving. I also like being able to talk to the camera (voice commands), such as "take photo" or "video start". This easier than pushing small buttons and has been reliable.

-100 Stars.. and that’s being generous. 🤬
If Wham Bam Dashcam is why you’re here… just know mine didn’t get the memo. If you’re looking for a dash cam you can actually trust… keep scrolling. This ain’t it. I bought the Wham Bam Dashcam back in February 2026 and, not gonna lie, at first it had me fooled. Everything worked great. I was ready to hand out 5 stars like Oprah. Then April hit… and this thing completely lost its mind. Now it turns on and off whenever it feels like it. The “stay on” setting? Yeah, that’s just a suggestion apparently. Half the time I’m driving wondering if it’s recording or just vibing. It randomly announces “recording started” like it’s doing something… meanwhile whole chunks of footage are just gone. Not glitched. Not hidden. Gone. I’m talking an entire block of time 6:30 AM to 11:30 AM completely missing. And here’s the part that should make anyone pause: Right before that happened, support sent me a link to click. I clicked it… got a blank white screen… and the next morning those exact videos were gone. Now I’m seeing time gaps everywhere, especially around those “recording started” moments. And magically, those are also the clips I can’t download anymore. So let’s connect dots like grown adults: - You send me a link - I click it - Suddenly footage disappears - Now there are gaps I can’t access Yeah… no. At this point it feels like there’s some kind of backdoor access through that link into the app. Because there’s no other explanation for footage just disappearing like that. And then they send me a “free” 64GB memory card… which honestly just makes it more suspicious, not less. A dash cam is supposed to give you evidence. Peace of mind. Reliability. This one? Feels like it’s editing your day without your permission. I don’t trust the camera. I don’t trust the app. And I definitely don’t trust whatever that link was supposed to be. If you enjoy wondering whether your footage will still exist tomorrow, go for it. Otherwise… save your money and your sanity. Hard pass. 🚫 Update 4.26.26 went to log into app had 300+ videos on the memory card now there are 27. Nobody else had access to my dashcam app. It also happens in the middle of the night. They seem to be on the other side of the world since I get email replys in the middle of the night. You should be worried about security of your phone if you contact them and are having issues. You will see this kinda mess. Do NOT click links they send. It will say here's the link to what you need from Amazon and it will take you to a blank white screen. I'm telling you stay away!!!!!

Best Option!! Read If You're On The Fence!
After my Nexar dash cam had an expanded battery, I started looking for a new dash cam. I no longer wanted to be with Nexar because of their products becoming hit or miss and them no longer offering cloud video storage for free. I did quite a bit of research on various dash cams and heard lots of good things about the VIOFO. I purchased the A119 Mini 2 along with a Samsung EVO 512GB microSD card. I've currently been using it for 10 months. Setup was quick and the setup guide was easy to follow. I was very satisfied with the quality of the product as well as the size of the color display. The menus are easy to navigate and the information bar that's burned into the recording is fully customizable. You can add or remove speed to the recording which is nice depending on if you want speed evidence in your video! ;) I do appreciate that the display turns off after a specified time, which prevents screen burn-in. The included cable was the perfect size to run inside the interior trim down to under my center console for power. The app has worked fine for me; however, I find it easiest to remove the microSD and offload to a computer whenever I desire footage. One thing I dislike about this is that the only mounting option available is adhesive to your windshield. However, it was not able to come off my windshield at all. The unit comes with 2 sheets of clear adhesive to stick between the dash cam and the windshield. One of the videos is of a hit-and-run suspect where the dark grey Lincoln MKZ at the end of the video hits a car off-camera and makes a U-turn. You can hear where they side-swiped the car next to me. The photo includes the information that is embedded in the bottom of the recordings. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase and have recommended this unit to others!

Good Camera Except...
Update 11/1/23 Changed my rate to 3 starts because of good customer service. Customer service reached out to me and sent me a new camera they said they tested before shipping. I had to send back the first defective camera to their service center. The new camera had the same voice activated command problem. No matter how I spoke... soft, loud, slow, fast, even had my wife try, the "video start" command worked maybe once out of 15 tries. The other voice activated commands work ok. Customer service wanted me to send them a video of the problem. I've already devoted enough time and back and forth emails to this issue. Not paying for features that don't work. I returned it via Amazon for a refund. There's other reviews of the "video start" command not working reliably so it's an issue with the camera firmware. Its a good 2k camera for the price point if voice recognition commands worked. Original Review: Great camera with very good video and doesn't take up much windshield real estate. Lots of user options. WiFi easily connected to my android phone. 5G option is nice for faster video downloads. The app is ok. Nothing special. All camera settings can be done via the app. The update firmware option does nothing. Con: The voice command a great option but unreliable and buggy. The dashcam has a list of voice commands it recognizes. Some work, some don't no matter how clearly you speak. As example " video start" never worked. The other strange thing is recording mode has to be stopped before entering the settings mode. Ok I get the reason why. However, select settings mode the record mode turns back on. In record mode the camera randomly repeats "recording" every couple of minutes. Turning record off and on fixes it. I did update the firmware but didn't fix the problems. The built in display is very small and only somewhat useful to set the camera angle. The live video can be viewed on your phone so the dashcam display isn't of much use. Haven't decided yet to keep the camera. Don't like paying for options that don't work. If using voice commands isn't important there are other dashcams for less money that are comparable.

Good dashcam with a clean setup process once installed
I bought this VIOFO Dash Cam Front A119 Mini 2 for my new car after seeing it recommended repeatedly on Reddit, and after using it for a few weeks, I can understand why people rate it highly. The installation process was easier than I expected overall. I watched a few YouTube videos beforehand, and the included long wire made cable routing much cleaner inside the car. I was able to hide most of the wiring around the trim instead of having cables hanging everywhere, which made the final setup look much more factory-like. The only part I did not enjoy was dealing with the 3M sticker during installation. Removing and positioning it properly was a little more annoying than expected, especially since you want to get the placement right the first time. Performance-wise, I have not had any issues so far. It powers on properly, records consistently, and has been working reliably during daily driving. Since a dashcam is something you hopefully never need but absolutely want working when you do, reliability matters more than fancy features to me. I think this is a solid option for people looking for a dependable dashcam without overcomplicating things. If having a completely wire-free setup matters to you, it may still be worth checking for wireless alternatives first. But if you are okay spending a little time on installation, this has been working well for me until now.

Resolución, calidad de imagen y longevidad.
Excelente dashcam.

Great for the price and newbies
My first dash cam and I'm really impressed. The app is abit here and there but it works and that's what you need. Viofo is very good with keeping up with firmware updates so that's a plus too. I've ordered the polarising lens on eBay as it's not on Amazon so I'll be putting that on later on and see how it compares as I'm a day time driver. other than that it's great for my first dashcam alot of settings. still figuring a few things out but it's great.

HK 4 - hardwiring to Crosstrek limited 2024 - fuse box
The video is of good quality with such a mini size dash cam. As a senior, I did a lot of research before choosing this Viofo A119 mini 2. Happy with my purchase and recommending others to use this for road safety. Now my wife has a peace of mind because it will automatically turn on and the parking mode monitoring will be on after the ignition of the vehicle is turned off. It can provide peace of mind by recording my drives automatically. It helps protect me by capturing video evidence in case of accidents, disputes, or even minor incidents, which can be crucial for insurance claims or police reports. It acts as a "silent witness," providing clear video evidence in collisions, hit-and-runs, or even traffic stops, which can streamline insurance claims and reduce stress from "he said, she said" arguments. At the size of a car key, it's easy to mount behind the rear-view mirror without blocking the driver's sightline—a crucial feature for seniors who may already deal with reduced peripheral vision or prefer a clutter-free windshield. Installation is straightforward via a simple adhesive mount and Type-C USB connection to the car's cigarette lighter, minimizing hassle (though professional help is an option if needed). With the HK4 hardwire kit which I purchased separately and installed to my 2024 crosstrek (see attached fuse slots #17 ACC and #32 battery), it enables motion-activated parking surveillance to monitor the car 24/7, deterring theft and capturing evidence—adding security for seniors who park in public spaces. The supercapacitor design (no battery) ensures it works in extreme temperatures (-4°F to 149°F) without failure, and it's built to last without ongoing maintenance. Overall, at an affordable price point (around CAD$1500–$180), the A119 Mini 2 combines pro-level performance with senior-focused simplicity, making it a smart, low-maintenance investment for safer, stress-free driving. After using it for a few days, I have the following tips to share with others. Maintenance - Format every few months for smooth performance. Maintenance: Wipe the lens monthly; update firmware via the app for new features. Battery Protection: It draws little power but I will unplug if leaving the vehicle for my vacation days. It is Still Recording When the Screen Turns Off. The dash cam is still recording even after the screen turns off after a few minutes. This is a built-in screen saver feature designed to save battery and prevent the LCD from overheating or draining power unnecessarily during long drives. The camera continues looping video in the background without interruption ; if you'd prefer the screen to stay on longer, you can adjust the screen saver timer in the settings menu (options like Off, 1 minute, 3 minutes, etc.) Last but not the least, the after sales service is excellent with good support from Layla. Thanks
