SISTERBIRD Bird Houses for Outside Clearance with Copper Guard, Cedar Bird House Outdoor, Bluebird Finch Swallow Wren Chickadee

These birdhouses from sisterbird are great! They were easy to put together and have features that birding sites say a birdhouse should have. For example, there is a metal guard at the entrance that keeps squirrels and predators from chewing on the hole to make it larger. Another feature that is important are the grooves on the inside, so the fledgling birds can climb up when they are ready to fledge. Those grooves also make it easier for the adults to get out. The 1.5 inch hole is the perfect size for bluebirds. This birdhouse also does not have a perch, which is not needed for bluebirds and deters other birds from using the birdhouse. The way the front tilts up will make it easy to clean out after nesting season. The latch makes the front very secure. Overall, I highly recommend this birdhouse and the quality seems good enough to last for several years. I did read the birds are sensitive to the smell of paint so I did not paint these for this season. When nesting season is over, I may give them a coat of outdoor latex paint to make them last even longer. By the time the next breeding season comes, the paint should be well dried. I mounted mine on a 6 foot high 4 x 4 post that I put in the ground using a post anchor spike I got from Amazon (link below). That places the opening around 6 1/2 foot off the ground. I also wrapped metal flashing at the top of the post to discourage predators that might climb up to eat the eggs or babies. I also placed the birdhouse far enough away from trees or branches, so the squirrel cannot jump onto the birdhouse and try to eat the eggs, which squirrels have been known to do. While, you can mount the birdhouse directly to a tree I would discourage you from doing that. It is too easy for predators to get to the bird house If it’s on a tree. It was very easy to get a 4 x 4 post at my local building supply and a post anchor stake to mount it with, which I bought on Amazon https://a.co/d/0728bqQX I only got a 16 inch stake for the anchor because I have many rocks in my soil you might want a deeper one and this one can be set in concrete if you are worried. My setup seems very sturdy. My birdhouse has been out for about two weeks and a bluebird pair started checking it out about a week after I put it up. Now we’ve seen them bringing nesting material to the Bird House, and continue to go in and out. We have also put out meal worms, which are a bluebird favorite. However, we had to switch to a feeder that only allowed bluebirds to get in because starlings were stealing all the worms. With the bluebird friendly feeder we now only see blue birds going to eat the worms and we think that helped the bluebirds to pick up our birdhouse to use as a nesting site. These appear to be well designed kits that are easy to assemble. The wood and fittings are good quality and the nestboxes include the ventilation and drainage required for a good bird box. The directions are clear and the pre-drilled holes are accurately placed. The screw driver included is more than adequate and securely fits in the screw heads. The holes for the screws are countersunk so that the screws remain flush with the wood when installed. These are functional nestboxes that are designed for the purpose and are great replacements for our old ones. A couple of caveats would be that the wood used appears to have been joined together with glue joints and the mounting screw holes are in line with the grain of the wood. This could result in splitting if too much tightening occurs. Pole mounting is preferred. Within an hour or two of being installed all three nest boxes were occupied and in use. Nice combination of good functionality and appearance. A welcome addition to our backyard habitat.

So I purchased three of these bird houses and I do have to say that I was impressed how easy they were to put together. First off it comes in a really nice box & everything is that you need is inside the box including a screwdriver. When I saw that and I put it together I was thinking that these would make really good Christmas gifts or if I took him to a party everybody gets a Christmas birdhouse and we all put them together at the party. So the material was cedar and it was all pre-drilled really easy to put together and I had nice screws. The birdhouse was very sturdy and I think it'll function very well. We buy bird houses and put them around our property because we have a lot of birds and bird feeders so we have sort of up a little mini bird sanctuary. I would recommend this product for the money that it cost it is a good deal the wood look like it was a good quality it was everything was pre-drilled it had all of the items that you needed inside of the box. The only drawback is that it was made in China I would have prefer if it was a made in America because I mostly buy American items -- but this was a pretty good quality Chinese product. Dollar for dollar I think that it's a good price you can make one for a little bit less but since this is already all pre cut out pre-drilled and it looks like it has some type of a smooth finish on it it looks like if you wanted to make bird houses with very little power tools... This is a pretty good option. One important note is to not install the top lid until you mount it because the mounting hole is inside the birdhouse. They do give you a nice longer screw for the birdhouse but I used my own screw because I wanted to be able to install use a three or a three and a half inch screw going into the tree. The birds that we are primarily attracting to the spirit houses would be that the finches. Also I wanted to mention it does come with a metal ring around the hole to keep predators from pecking through the hole.

High quality. Easy to assemble. Really appreciate the metal enclosure around the bird hole since it discourages squirrels from chewing the hole bigger for access. I paint these with outdoor paint to match our house. Bluebirds populate them within a week of mounting. Hinged door makes cleaning out a breeze. If you keep up with re-painting they will last 4+ years.

Nice kit. Went together with ease. All the holes lined up. The wood panels fit together perfectly. Nice fasteners, but you have to pay attention and use the right length in each location.

This bird house is of excellent quality. 2 for $20 is an insane value. It comes with everything you need to assemble and mount, minus a Philips head screw driver. Its smooth with a satin finish. The boards are 1/2". Every hole lines up perfectly, every hole is counter sunk. Even the little latch, that has to thread a hole, comes with its parts pre mounted, and when assembled they line up perfect. Rarely do I purchase something that meets my Every expectation of a good product. Kudos to Sister bird for making this nesting box.

Very nicely made, you need to put together but very easy to do, instructions are clear. Already have a family living in it. Will draw many bluebirds.
