OTTOCAST Wireless Android Auto Car Adapter

1) There is a lag in the connection of the item. 2) The connection between the phone and the product keeps on refreshing.

Android auto connection was nice . Youtube works decent. After firmware update, system works better. when turn on the car, it's takes to start around 6-12 seconds , similarly android auto takes same time.

The Ottocast Play2Video Pro is not compatible with TATA HARRIER 2020 model. The car infotainment dosen't recognise it and the error message is dispalyed: Device not recognised. The Ottocast website claims that the product is compatible with TATA HARRIER 2020 model but it is not. And return of the product is not an easy job.

It worked on my car intermittently it kept disconnecting like my car would kick it out. On the other hand It worked fine on my second audi maybe cause it’s a little older but that’s not the car I intended it for. But good product for cars a little older

When I bought this my expectations were a lot higher. It took a day or so before I was able to actually get it connected to my car. (2018 Chrysler 300). When I was finally able to get it connected sometimes it would work, other times not so much. It uses the hotspot off your phone to power WiFi in the car so you can use Netflix/youtube. When it worked it worked pretty well, minimal buffing etc. However, now it’s a task to even get it connected to Bluetooth. I have tried numerous times, and honestly it’s not really worth the grief. I’d consider myself a pretty tech savvy person but this has just given me more trouble than it’s worth. The music cuts off frequently, you can’t use navigation through it at least with it unless you disconnect the Netflix/youtube section then it’s a whole process to get the phone reconnected. It send numerous notifications regarding your google account. I’m very disappointed with this. I had the older version, but it didn’t support Netflix/youtube so I had hoped this would work out better but unfortunately not so much. It’s cool to have but honestly, you’re better off just using your phone to watch videos.

This is a great concept, but my problem is that the adapter is VERY SLOW to connect to and start CarPlay, typically taking at least 2 full minutes. PLUS, I'm having to reconnect it every time I get into the car. Their ads, videos, etc. claim that it will connect automatically but this isn't happening. This device is supposed to add convenience to the CarPlay experience, but instead it is making it more complicated and A LOT less convenient. I have already updated the firmware according to the instructions, but it didn't make any difference. I REALLY WANT THIS TO WORK. I submitted a help request yesterday but did not receive a reply, so I submitted a second request this evening. Hopefully I'll get some meaningful help before the 15-day return window expires. I'll update my review/rating IF/WHEN Ottocast resolves the issue(s). Ottocast Customer Support was responsive but unable to resolve the issue satisfactorily, so I am returning the item. It is supposed to add convenience to the CarPlay experience and it does just the opposite. Having to go through pairing and setup every time we get in the car is anything but convenient.

Overall I am very impressed with the device! It was kind of a little lag at first, but it got better after the first reboot. It was plug n play, but always check for updates when you recieve. This device can do ota updates within the device itself. Just follow the instructions and wallah. From my understanding, this works for cars that have wired apple carplay only. But no worries, if you have android (like me) it supports android auto through the device after connection also. Videos will play also while in drive but warning (proceed cautiously!) YouTube and Netflix will be installed by default on device. But other apps like hbomax, disney etc.. and can't be added. Having Android auto/Apple carplay plus YouTube and Netflix is enough for me right now. In the future, If I wanted to get a little crazy with the apps, I'll settle for the picasou 2 pro. Customer you got to have patience with, they usually responded to me within 24/48 hrs It's definitely a winner for me and I think it will be for you too!!!
