I was an avid skater in high school. Now that I have kids, I wanted to let them experience skating as I had. We are going frequently to the rink, so I thought that I would purchase my first pair of skates. After the first fifteen minutes, I knew it was a mistake. These wheels are terribly slow. My calf muscles were killing me after the first hour. I loosened the wheels and it didn't help. I'm going back to rental skates.

Glad I got them at under $30.00 /Amazon card offer. That's maybe what they're worth. 2 things that are misleading in the description. The 'chrome chassis' is more like shiny silver plastic with metal trucks. If they do, in fact, have abec 9 bearings you'd never know it because they have no spin. You have to loosen the wheel nuts so much to get any spin that the wheels are then wobbly with way too much play. The wheels are really cheesy too but that was expected. They were bought for a kid whose feet will grow into parent skates in a few short years. I didn't expect $100+ skates for that price, but I did expect what the description implied.

You can tell that the price corresponds to the quality. But I figured that going into it. They look good, but has a very stiff boot. They are not professional grade, and are not comfortable after wearing them for a couple of hours. The wheels are OK for indoor use. They seem to be soft, so I have to skate harder to keep a decent speed.

I bought and returned two pairs of these. The first was size 9, which was actually an US size 11.5, the second, size 8, was actually an US size 12. Buy 8 pairs and send 7 back if you really want to trouble with these inconsistent, made in China skates. The uppers are "PU Leather", which means polyurethane, and stink of volatile organic compounds as soon as you open the box. You are just guessing about sizes when you buy from this company.

I agree with the reviewer above me. This is a great skate for the price. I've recently gotten back into skating and wanted my own skates because I don't really like the rentals at the rink. They arrived fast and I also agree with the other reviewer on the fact that they look much better in person. Though I'm quite the roller derby fan, I don't play derby so my skates are for recreational purposes. I don't know if I'd buy them for derby, but obviously don't know enough to dissuade derby players from buying them. I do think they're good, cheap beginning speed skates and would probably serve the purpose of a beginning jam skater. The great thing is the lack of "breaking in" of the shoe. It's comfortable like a nice pair of sneakers right out the box. You definitely need to change the wheels. The stock wheels are too slow and too much debris gets caught in the ridges, even on a fairly clean floor. Overall, these are a good, comfortable pair of affordable recreational speed skates.
