does this have the smaller ottoman inside, and does the top turn into a tray?

no it does not have a smaller ottoman inside but is basically storage space. The lid does not detach and is on a hinge. No drink holders here but is really nice and plenty of storage for remotes, magazines, what not's. I use small boxes to separate my items to keep them organized.

What is the width and depth

It's like a perfect square cube. Apx 17"x17"x17" - HxWxL. The cushion on top is about 1/2" wider on all sides, which measures to apx. 17 1/2"-18", but that's just the seating/leg rest area. Therefore depth is 17", width 17"

How much weight does it hold?

I actually cannot tell you the weight, but I keep 2 small basket inside with my calculator tablets, ink pen---hand and face cream. My granddaughter puts her Ipad in it when she stays overnite----it's really just handy to keep small items that use daily and you need for easy reach. Love it, especially for the price. I do not let anyone sit on it, I'm afraid they may damage it----don't want to take any chances sorry
