Kitchen torch/nightlight
We needed a replacement kitchen torch, this one fit the bill. The quality is a lot better than I expected, with a nice easy to grip shape, very useful for an elderly relative. It can be left on in its charging dock, and used as a nighlight, giving off a low power light, when removed from the docking station going to full power. When used as a torch it provides a decent amount of light, ideal if there's a power cut. Personally I'm impressed at the price and quality.

On the small side but works well. Good beam and a very useful night light

Useful piece of kit
This is an inexpensive piece of kit that will be particularly useful to anyone running a holiday let or B & B who has been asked to provide emergency lighting for guests. To clarify how it works: the torch which fits into the charging dock has a switch on the side. With the switch on it will function as a dusk to dawn nightlight and also come on automatically at full brightness in the event of a power cut. With the switch off it will still charge (as long as plugged into a power source obviously) but the nightlight will not come on and the torch will not come on automatically in a power cut, rather the torch will need to be switched on manually at the time. So what you can't have is nightlight off but torch automatically on in power cut. But that's totally fine for my needs. This looks like it will be a useful piece of kit and great value for money.

Very useful.
Great product, too bright for a bedroom, shame there isn't an option to have no night light and it coming on in a power cut, so mine is in the hallway.

Emergency lighting, nightlights and useful pocket torches
These are fantastic and fulfil the criteria of emergency lighting in a holiday let - if left plugged in and switched on at the wall and with the torch itself switched 'on' , while in the charger they don't emit light in daylight/ room light but they are activated when it gets dark. Effectively a rechargeable torch / nightlight / emits light during power-cuts. When removed from its charging socket it is a small but quite powerful torch. NB. If left to charge but with the torch itself switched to 'off' then clearly it won't activate spontaneously in the dark / during power-cuts and then becomes just a rechargeable torch.

A useful emergency torch, with a bright night light.
The torch is bright. When in it's charging pod it can be left on, left like than is becomes a light sensitive night light. As a night light, even though the torch is dimmed, to be the night light, it still is really a bit too bright for a gentle light. It leaves quite a bright streak up the side of a wall. But I am sure there is a possible use for that! I like the convenience of always knowing where the torch is charging, and having a brighter night light in a more central part of the house. Left like a night light, if the power goes while it is the pod, the torch comes on fully. So you have an emergency lighting station. This could be useful besides stairs or emergency exits. I have not tried to see how long the torch would run for on it's battery, but it lasted for several hours when we last had a power cut. The torch is small enough to put in a pocket or handbag should you want to use it as a portable light source. The only real minus part of the design is that is does jut out from a socket quite a long way and easily gets knocked by feet or vacuum cleaners etc, with the dragging cables on cleaners tangling themselves around it. Overall it is a product I would recommend.

Quite good.
When being used as an automatic emergency backup light in case of a mains power failure: 1. The torch must be in the holder 2. The torch must be turned on 3. The holder must be plugged into a mains power socket The torch will sense the power failure and automatically turn on. Sadly, when used in this mode, the torch acts as a night light too so it automatically turns on when the room becomes dark. This is not good when the torch is used in sleeping rooms. It is a shame they didn't include a separate switch to turn this night light capability off or on. And it's not as bright as other reviewers have stated. But it's bright enough to enable you to navigate your way out of the room and find some brighter torches or lanterns to get you through the power cut.
