Amazing is an understatement when describing this product!!! While it was a bit pricier ($369.00) than the dog door we had bought and installed in our last house ($109.00 - PetSafe Wall Entry Aluminum Pet Doors), it was well worth that extra money. To start, the kit includes everything you’ll need (minus tools) to install and finish this dog door. I am attaching photos of the parts of the kit as well as the installation process. I say it is a complete kit because it has stuff included that I would have completely forgotten about; things like Loctite, weather stripping, 303 Aerospace Protectant (for preventing UV damage to sun exposed surfaces), a jigsaw blade, and it even includes dog treats to train your dog to go through the dog door! Everything fits together so perfectly, I thought I was in the Twilight Zone. I’ve never had a product work so well right out of the box. The instructions are crystal clear and super easy to follow. The doors themselves are amazing quality!!! The flaps seal all the way around the door, leaving no gaps anywhere. Couple that with the fact there are two, and your mind is at peace knowing you have the most energy efficient dog door possible. Helpful notes: I traced the actual outline of the inside lip of the dog door onto the template and cut about 1/4“ around that traced line. It was significantly less cutting than the template would have been. I’m not sure exactly how it would have worked using the template as-is, but I’d recommend doing it the way I said just described to avoid potential gaps. Another thing I found useful when cutting the inside “Tunnel” pieces was to mark the line on both ends of the piece and use painter’s tape to mark my line. The sheet metal is coated in a protection oil and makes drawing on them a bit difficult without removing that oil. Also, I used tin snips (garden snips in my case because I didn’t have the proper tool) to make cuts from the edge of the pieces to the tape line, about every few inches. I then used a pair of pliers to bend the newly created “tabs” up and down until they broke of cleanly (see pictures).

I was tired of sliding door inserts as the doors ripped, magnets fell off and were horribly energy inefficient. So when I decided to upgrade to a wall dog door I wanted the best. I researched them all and the Endura seemed to be the best design. It arrived in a timely manner and was fairly easy to install (but I have worked in construction). My initial impression was very good. My dogs (English Pointer, Wirehaired Pointing Griffon and Miniature Schnauzer) took about a day to adjust to the new style and increased door resistance. The doors kept out the elements very well and I was finally able to use my sliding door normally again. Then four days after installation the clips which hold the magnets on failed on both doors. I didn't even have a chance to send in the warranty card! So no I had a hole in my wall and thought I'd have a major repair on my hands. I contacted the manufacturer and to my surprise they responded the next day. They said it was a known issue and that they had redesigned the clips and would expedite a pair. The replacement set arrived in about 3 days along with an installation video, but they were the exact same clips as the ones that failed. Super frustrated I contacted them again and explained this, they assured me that the replacement clips looked very similar, but these too failed. I had to contact them and explain that the clips were not the ones as in the video. Again they were quick to respond. They sent out another replacement order, this time the clip was in fact different and as described in the video, but they only sent 1. The new clip has fixed the problem so far. I contacted the yet again and they were apologetic and assured me they would send the second clip. I don't write many reviews. But I have to say that Endura's customer service is fantastic, US based and very responsive. I was ready to go to war with the company and they killed me with kindness and stood behind their product. I would definitely recommend this dog door, it is expensive, but the quality (once rectified) is superb and the customer service is great. Hope this helps.

I really like the construction and materials used in this product. It's mostly high quality stuff. The door I received appears to be a newer model than the pictures I've seen online. Mine uses plastic clips on the bottom of the doors instead of the metal clips I keep seeing in photos. I would prefer having more metal than plastic, so I'm a bit disappointed that they downgraded to plastic but didn't downgrade the price. And speaking of the price, it's insane for what you get. Don't get me wrong, the product is really nice, but it's not $500 nice...maybe $250 at best. I could buy a really nice full size door for my house for that price, so paying that much for a tiny pet door that is just a simple metal frame with some silicone door flaps seems pretty steep. That being said, I couldn't find a better pet door on the market, so if I wanted to play, I had to pay for this guy. At least it's made in the USA, so the money stays here. Installation was a breeze for me. I bought a thru-wall door so I got to play with drywall...yay (not)! I measured twice and cut once and the door & tunnel assembly installed without hassle. It was very easy to install. Just make sure you are familiar with the plan before proceeding and you should be fine. My two dogs are still getting used to the double door configuration and it seems to be quite intimidating to them. They have a single door set up in one of our back doors and they have no issue with it. I removed the magnets on the sides of the silicone door flaps so that it was easier for them to open the doors. I figured that would be necessary to get my pups to start using it and I was right. They are still very hesitant and like going into the house far more than going out of it, but I think eventually they will become more comfortable with using it. With there being few comparable alternatives on the market, I have no choice but to recommend this product. I'm still suffering from sticker shock but I am happy with the purchase and the product. I may even get a single flap door from Endura Flap when we replace our back door this Fall. I'm just not looking forward to paying for it. :) But I do like that Endura Flap is an American company. It's nice to see America making a quality product again, even if it's just a pet door.

I was replacing PetSafe Dog doors in a wall. I have installed several dog doors over the years in walls. I can be OCD about these types of things so was really excited when I came across Endura flap double flap door built for wall install. The good: The frames are well engineered, manufactured and powder-coated. the flaps seem to be high quality, seal well and should last a while. The meh: The instructions weren't hard to follow but could have been better. The alignment of the inner and outer doors was a pain because the tunnel is complete garbage. Caulking helps some - taped around the outside and caulked all the inside tunnel joints. I have lap siding outside so this gave a chance to add a drip edge and use flashing tape around the cut out and still hide behind the frame. I found some great expanding gasket ( Frost King - E/O 1 in. x 13 ft. Expanding Foam Tape Weatherstrip that made the outside come out really clean with only minor caulking. The bad: The tunnel is laser cut and tabbed out of what is maybe .032 aluminum. Sounds nice... well it isn't. Aluminum is known to be an excellent conductor so this terrible for insulation - part of the reason we all buy this double door. This thin crappy aluminum was only useful because cutting was easy for depth. I'm sure it was me, but using a rubber hammer and backing board trying to flatten out the taps the first one immediately started to snap at the tight radius. I left the tabs just folded over per instruction, but they didn't seem to really tighten up. The tunnel also creates a significant step down between the two doors (I'll explain how I fixed this in a second). When the tunnel is tucked into the two doors it still won't hold thing solid against wracking of the assembly - it is important the the inside and outside doors align so the doors don't hang open. Not really covered in the instructions. I ended up pulling it back out and installed frames on each side of the tunnel to stiffen things up. I also took a piece of 3/4 rubber stall mat and cut a rectangle to fit into the drop area between the two doors for the bottom. This helped make the tunnel less awful and made up the space and gave something besides cold aluminum for the pups to step on. My suggestions to anyone installing - but without the tunnel and make your own. Tape up the tunnel, test fit a few times then work to reinforce the sides and bottom. My suggestion to Endura - the tunnel needs to be at least .90 aluminum and even better would be fiber reinforced plastic or a combo. Next use the notch for the tunnel but seam not at the corners to keep doors in plane with one another. Also, supply the 3/4 stall mat cut to width and then people could cut to length (fit). To be the premium door I think these are what I'd expect for the kind of money paid.

The instructions included in this product are vague and seem to skip a lot of important details. Having just installed mine, here as some observations/tips: 1. It recommends that you drill four 3/8" holes straight through your walls, and you use those holes to ensure interior holes and exterior holes are perfectly aligned. Of course, this relies on your ability to drill PERFECTLY. Unless you have rock-steady aim AND a powerful cordless drill that has its own built-in level, you should probably think long and hard about how exactly you're going to make sure the two openings match up. I drilled a single hole, then penciled out the two openings using a carpenter's square and a large level. 2. During the final stage of installation, you will cut down four long screws to fit your wall. Do NOT allow the screws to extend beyond flush with the outside frame of the pet door, or the protective caps won't fit. Insert the screws until flush (or just before), the pet door will probably still be loose, at which point you will remove the "insertion tool" and use a flat screwdriver on the interior side of the door (ensuring that just the screw "head," not the whole screw, turns) until you can't turn the screw head any longer. The shaft of the screw will have popped out through the top of the screw head (it will make sense when you see it). 3. I measured my wall thickness by measuring out to the furthest point of the exterior sidiing. I then had to use a LOT of caulk to fill in the gaps between the irregular slats in the siding and the flat exterior frame of the pet door. 4. If you try and train your pet to go through within 24 hours of installation, there will be a STRONG repellent silicone smell concentrated within the double doors. When my Bichon Frise pushed open the first door, the surprise at finding another door (his first door wasn't a double door) combined with the smell of the silicone made it harder for him to feel comfortable going through the door. That said, the quality of the door is AMAZING. It is probably the most airtight door in our whole 2009 EnergyStar certified home. It takes some serious force to push through it, but our Bichon is used to it now (1 week later), and I'm excited to see our utility bills go down after removing the sliding door insert pet door we had been using. I would highly recommend this door, but make sure someone with a keen mechanical mind installs it.
