Brave Irene: A Picture Book

My first graders enjoyed this book. It has a great lesson about determination.

I love this story! I enjoyed it as a child and I love that I can share it with my daughters. It's such an empowering story about a little girl that overcomes many obstacles to help her mother.

This is a tried and true story; and is a great read aloud to children in the early primary grades. I consider it to be an enduring story akin to a modern day fairy tale, and have enjoyed it for many years. This book was purchased for our three-year-old granddaughter in England. We wondered if she was a little too young to appreciate the tale, but she asked to have it read over and over again. It was a huge success. We only wish we could have been there. An excellent tale.

My daughter's teacher read this book to her students on the last day of class this year (Pandemic 2020). It was perfect, and showed that grit and perseverance only makes us stronger. After listening to it, I realized this was a "keeper" for our library.

I bought this for my daughter when she was little, and I still think it is one of the best books to empower our daughters. Irene on her own takes up a challenge and follows it through to the end. My 30 year old daughter is facing some major challenges and I decided she needed her own copy. Our original one is falling apart.

I liked the book but i think that the pictures could be better So I gave it 4 because it also could of been more real.I liked it.

A classic picture book by William Steig, author of Shrek. A brave little girl nurses her sick Mother and braves a harrowing storm. Picture books realistically portraying brave, strong girls are rare. This is one of them.

This is a great book to read to a class when teaching about Narrative writing, especially character-problem-solution.

One of the best children's book. It's far away from fiction and fantasy, it's simple and yet touches your heart .... A beautiful story about the relationship a mum shares with her daughter.

I enjoyed reading this story and it was good to illustrate the point I was trying to make about perseverance.
