Twist the rod until it's a few centimetres longer than the window. Once in place it will not move.

The outer is approximately 15mm the inner slide is approx 10 mm or in old money half inch outer three eights of an inch inner hope that helps

Light weight only I use mine in a wide door frame to hold anti insect sceens
