Where is this product made?

We received the following information in an email from Perrigo, the manufacturer and distributor of "Basic Care Saline Nasal Spray":
"The Nasal spray is made in the United States by our company. Our main site is in Allegan, Michigan. If a product is made outside of United States it has to be listed on labeling per government regulations. The saline nasal spray contains the following ingredients which should be listed on the labeling: Purified Water, Sodium Chloride 0.65%, Disodium Phosphate, Phenylcarbinol, Monosodium Phosphate, Benzalkonium Chloride."

Are these meant to be used again and again, or is there a shelf life or a maximum number of times you should use?

I have been using a saline spray like this for many years. Durning the late fall and winter months my nose gets very dry and congested. A spray like this helps a lot. They have an expiration date of about two years. I have continued to use for longer than that with no issues. As long as there is only one user I don't see a problem of using until the product is used up. If you have had a very serious infection, you might want to replace sooner or if it is contaminated is some way.

Can you remove the cap to add something to solution?

I started saving generic afrin bottles. Turns out I'm super sensitive to afrin's active ingredients. I emptied all my bottles. Made up an isotonic and a hydrotonic saline solution using YES nasal salts which sell in packets as well as bulk jars and bags you can refill the jars with. So I make up the solutions properly using the right amount of demineralized water not tap water you usually can get from most grocery stores. NOT DRINKING WATER which can be no better than your tap water. Then fill my clean and sanitized afrin type bottles with pure saline product I know what's in it from the saline salts that delcare it. Some more pure than others some may have additives. I stay with pure buffered salines due to my super sensitivities and reactions to anything but. I do boil the water to insure it's sterilized before putting in the sterile glass bottles I keep in the fridge to refill my Afrin bottles. This is great. I control the amount I use the strength and turns out over time Isotonic is a bit low for me and hydrotonic is too strong which is double but my sweet spot is 1.5 times the salts. Two times is hydrotonic strength. Many people's membranes are too thin to handle the stronger salts others are fine. I make up a solution when I'm nearly out and throw any low product out. But since I also do nasal saline washing during winter and spring allergy seasons I often just use refill the afrin bottles about 2 ounces or less with what I just filled my wash bottle with. I use a 16 ounce wash bottle. Add 3 teaspoons of nasal salt or 3 packets of regular nasal salt isotonic packets to the dry bottle. Fill half the bottle with distilled or demineralized water from the gallon bottle. Boil another cup or two of the demineralized water and gently poor in the hot water to the shaken salt solution until it's the right temperature for me just under luke warm does not burn my nasal membranes. So no cold shock either. You can keep your afrin DIY bottles in the fridge or add a drop or two of white iodine or hydrogen peroxide to preserve if you are worried about that. I do not use the perservatives again due to my sensitivities. Do not use tap water unless you have reverse osmosis filtered tap water and not many do. People have died of amebia's that can attack the brain and often in the pacific NW but the thought is TAP WATER was the source. Don't use tap water or bottled drinking water. Demineralized or distilled. If you have a source of distilled from a de-humidifier that should work but I would still sterilize it by boiling it for storage.
