Question 1

What is the outside diamer of the bottom (exit) of the funnel?  I need a snug, stable fit in my generator gas tank...

Accepted Answer

The bottom of the funnel is tapered 2.5 inches long.  The very bottom is 1" OD and the top is 1.25" OD.  I do not recommend a snug fit in the filler unless you have a air release vent on the tank you are filling.  If air can't exit the tank as fast as you fill it the funnel will run very slow and possibly overflow.  A trick I use sometimes is to first place a long neck funnel in the tank that is snug and then run the gas through the Mr Funnel into the long neck one.  Just be sure to monitor the tank for fullness carefully so you don't overflow it.  Another thing to try is to just transfer the gas between two portable tanks using the Mr Funnel to filter fuel away from the generator first.

Can this filter be used just for refueling chainsaws, or will the two cycle oil mix clog it eventually?

Yes. I mainly use it for 2 cycle fuels.

How do you clean the filter?

If heavy debris, simply dump it.  If debris sticks, rinse with water and shake loose.  We do not recommend compressed air as that risk damaging the microfine filter and its Teflon coating.

Will this separate water from ethanol?
