The Invention of Hugo Cabret : Selznick, Brian: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Beautiful story and artwork - I bought this book straight after watching the Martin Scorcese movie. The artwork is fantastic and replaces what could normally be a lot of descriptive text. The story in the book is slightly different from the movie, mainly in that A:- The character of Hugo is not quite as likeable in the book, and B:- The station master plays a very small role in the book. To me though this book isnt about Hugo it is about the genius that was Georges Melies. I claim to be a bit of a film nut but must admit I had never heard of him before Hugo. Since the movie and book I have developed a slight obsession with the life and works of this wonderful man and find Hugo to be a wonderful homage to him. Review: Beautiful book for children and adults alike - This was brought to my attention at my book club which is held in our local library, this was the book that had been chosen for the childrens book club that afternoon. I was instantly drawn to the cover of the book but once i opened it i was totally amazed by the contents, it is full of beautiful and detailed artwork completed in what looks to be drawn entirely in pencil. This book is a feast for the eyes, i came home from the library and ordered one straight away so that i could own my own copy and i am absolutely delighted with it, it has pride of place on my bookshelf along with my other favourites. It was very good value, arrived well packaged and promptly

Immersive Reading
I decided to read this book because I was intrigued about a description I read online. It said that the book was part story/part black and white movie. Interested, I ordered the book online. When it was delivered I thought there was some sort of mistake as the package was REALLY heavy. Carefully I opened the box. “Surely this isn’t the book I ordered?” I mused to myself. I’m sure you can imagine my surprise when I took the book out of its packaging and began riffling through the pages. It was over 500 pages long!! Undeterred I scanned the blurb. Instantly my interest was grabbed. Hungrily, like a strange book monster I started to read the first chapter…or should I say “watch”? The first chapter is made up of a collection of amazing black and white illustrations. Flicking from one to the next was just like watching an old black and white movie. Before I knew it, fifty pages of the book had gone by. I read the book in just a few short hours. It certainly is an exciting adventure through 1930’s Paris. There are interesting and extravagant characters, lots of action and suspense…not to mention nerve-shredding cliff hangers. I recommend this story to any boy or girl, who loves books, loves movies, loves chasing or being chased. 9 out of 10.

Great book, delivery shocking
Great book, delivered on time, but...i put on delivery note to leave inside porch if I wasn't home, so I left the porch window open for the delivery guy to put it through, however on returning home from work found a card pushed through to say been left behind gate, goes to look and the guy had thrown it over the gate on the side of the house in the open, it's a good job I came home when I did as 5mins after picking it up on the floor we had a terrible thunder storm and it would have got soaked if I had gone out straight from work so not happy about the delivery, but book is a great read

Lovely, lavishly illustrated, book!
Very prompt and efficient service from Wordery; the book arrived punctually and was as described. But I have to say of the book that I just love it. If you have seen and enjoyed the film 'Hugo' you may very well enjoy this book. It is lavishly illustrated in black and white with full and double pages, The film 'Hugo' is a very close interpretation of the book and so the book, as far as I can see, is basically the screen-play for the film.

Heartwarming!
I bought this as a present for my 9 year old niece. To say that she was underwhelmed would be an understatement! Nevertheless I got the dutiful 'Thank you Uncle' kiss on the cheek and I left kicking myself that I hadn't gone with my original idea of a 'girlie' satchel! Imagine my surprise and joy when her mother called me to say that her daughter had had her head stuck in this marvelous book for weeks now and it was all she could do to stop her bringing it to the dining table with her! Just as Harry Potter turned millions of children into avid readers, this treasure of a book will do the same because it treats them as adults and challenges them.

O livro, apesar de grosso, é envolvente e interessante.

Arrivato in condizioni perfette. Me lo aspettavo di dimensioni più grandi, ma è come un normale libro. Secondo me perfetto per chi vuole approcciarsi alla lettura in inglese senza particolari basi sulla lingua. Illustrazioni in bianco e nero bellissime
