Wood is not treated, so if it gets damp, it will be moldy. The retaining pin is also too short to reach the other hole. It is also not tapered, so it's difficult to pull it out (had the pin be longer, at least I can push from the other hole to remove the pin). Need to oil the wood myself and modified the retaining pin for it to be usable.

Sadly this saya did not fit my 7โ nakiri. Otherwise the saya was very light and came with two pegs, in case you lose one. The pegs fit nicely and will not fall out. The shape doesnโt appear to be of a traditional nakiri shape, which is typically a rectangle. This shape looks more like a santoku.
