A worthwhile investment
We bought the Elle TENS+ to help manage labour contraction pain, and it exceeded our expectations. It worked very well for my wife, providing significant pain relief during the post-labour contraction phase. The device is easy to use, effective, and gives a strong sense of reliability. Given the results, it was definitely a worthwhile investment. As we are planning to have more children, we fully expect to use it again in the future. I strongly recommend this product to anyone looking for an effective, non-invasive option for pain relief during labour.

I especially like the adjustable intensity levels
Iโve been using this TENS unit for joint pain and contraction pain, and it has made a noticeable difference. Itโs easy to use, comfortable, and provides effective pain relief without medication. I especially like the adjustable intensity levels, which allow me to customize the treatment to my needs. Highly recommended.

Wouldn't have been without it!
A definite must have purchase for anyone about to have a baby. I was able to get to 3 cm dilated without any pain relief but once at the hospital was grateful to be able to put this on and still wander around whilst the next few hours dragged. Downsides: 1. The sticky pads are not brilliant if you need them quite low and want to keep oscillating positions, they do get crumpled up and start to come away from the skin, meaning that they are not as effective. I found that if I had been sitting or lying down I had to keep re-applying pressure to them when I had contractions but was standing up otherwise I couldn't feel them. This was really only a problem on my lower back ones not the higher ones. 2. One of the pads/leads did stop working, fortunately I had read this may happen and so had purchased spares which I had taken and I have never been so grateful for them. Would definitely advise getting extra pads and connections. 3. The pulse setting I found to be rather uncomfortable and actually intensified my contractions and hurt my skin even on a fairly low setting in the early stages but found a low setting useful as the labour progressed. Upside: 1. Did distract from the early contractions and help with the muscle tightening 2. Battery life was epic, I was in labour 18 hours and used the tens machine for over 11 hours of it and didn't have to replace the batteries or have any problem with them even though the machine was on constantly 3. Very portable, had a clip I could fasten to my gown so that I could walk around easily and make it to the toilet, etc 4. Easy to use and later in labour good as the leads were long enough for my husband to have 'control' of the pulse function. As I got tired he took over and was able to press it when he knew I was having a contraction, which helped him feel involved and gave him something to do (is a lot of waiting around for the bloke) Although quite expensive, it was ยฃ40 to hire one so was very glad I had purchased my own for the extra and could pack it in to my hospital bag well in advance knowing I was all sorted. Simple to use and effective particularly in early labour.

Highly recommended - labour survival tool
I was induced with a hormone pessary as my waters had broken with no contractions. I honestly would not have survived the contractions and pain without this machine. I had taken paracetamol an hour after induction and wasn't able to have any stronger pain relief as there were no available beds on labour ward. As a result I had to manage the pain for 10 hours before a bed was available and I could get an epidural. For the 2 hours prior to getting an epidural I was given gas and air, but by this point I was so exhausted that I was unable to coordinate my breathing to gain any benefit from it. The Tens got me through every contraction alongside counterpressure applied by my husband. It is without doubt one of the best purchases I made throughout my pregnancy and I would recommend this to anyone who is planning on having a vaginal delivery (even if you want a water birth, as it is difficult to predict whether this will truly be possible). I have also continued to use this for lower back pain following the delivery which has been really helpful to aiding my recovery. In summary my advice is that this is worth every penny and if you are not keen on purchasing it, you can hire it on the babycare website.

Used for third baby
I bought this because I was having a lot of anxiety about giving birth to my third baby. For babies one and two I used gas and air. Contractions are intense and can take over your body at times so I wanted something more to help me cope during the early stages of labour. I had convinced myself I would be asking for an epidural this time (as I had built up so much anxiety for the months before birth). I put the tens machine on about half an hour into contractions and immediately felt relief for every contraction using the boost button. I didnโt have that same fear of waiting for the next contraction as I found them more manageable. When I got to the hospital I was 5cm dilated and still found the contractions manageable using boost. I then had gas and air together with the tens machine and breathed through the rest of my contractions until I was ready to push. I didnโt find it beneficial for pushing stage! Not sure if this was because baby was big and back to back or because pushing is a different kind of pain/experience. It was attached to my back for about 5 hours total and never moved and batteries didnโt run out. One of my best purchases!

Great pain relief during labour
My wife used only this for pain relief during labour and she delivered our baby girl without needing an epidural. She used it for 4 hours without it running out of battery. We recommend the TENS machine strongly.

Works well, good design
Worked great for us, great value for what you pay. Combined with spare pads itโs better than hiring one as you can use it for other applications too. Batteries last a long time also. It would be great if it was rechargeable to make it more sustainable than single use batteries

Did work for me but only to some extent
It was a pretty good option of pain relief for the early stage of my labour. Honestly I am not really sure if it worked or was just a distraction from the contractions, but anyway it did itโs job. Once contractions get more intense it will not do any miracles obviously. But giving 4 stars as it is easy to use and helped me through the early stage.
