If you have your system wired in parallel you will require the MPPT100/50 which can be found under ASIN B073ZJ43L1 If you are wiring in series you will require the MPPT 150/45

Thank you for enquiring.

The below is based on you having a 12V battery bank.

The minimum you could use is the 100/20 as the controllers can handle a higher than rated power, it is not recommended as this will cut the panels off a 290W losing your 10W from the 300W panels and may lead to inefficiency in the future.

I would look at the 100/30 the one you have asked the question on as it is rated 440W. You will fully utilise the 300W of panels you have and will allow you room to add an 100W as long as the panels are within the 100V max.

You will need to check what the maximum charging current of your batteries are as well as to not charge them with too much current but if you are using the smart solar the Victron units can be current limited through the app.

Would this be suitable for x2 160 watt= 320watt panels?

Hi,

Yes this controller would be suitable for charging 2 x 160W panels. The 100/30 model can accept a solar input of 440W at 12V DC or 880W at 24V DC. The 100/50 model can accept 700W at 12V DC and 1400W at 24V DC.

Does this connect straight to the app or do i need extra parts?

The Smart Solar range of Victron MPPT controllers have inbuilt Bluetooth so they would be able to connect to the app on a Bluetooth enabled device without any extra parts.
