All 5 are carefully written to reinforce basic sight words, phonetic patterns and word families like color words. The quality of the paper and print is excellent and the pictures are colorful and provide clues to new words. There is a big jump in skill required between Step 1 and Step 2 so exposure to a variety of Step 1 books will likely lead to a more successful transition to more complex language, vocabulary, and length in Step 2.
