This is my second tester of this type. It has replaced one which I purchased in 2021. It is a great design and very effective and reliable.

Neat little gadget I would have liked a brief note with it stating battery already fitted. It has a screw to open back but no guide on how/if to change battery

Easy to use good quality and value for money.

This is the 2nd one I've bought, it's for a Christmas present as my friend has seen mine

I bought this to replace a much more expensive device which gave a voltage reading. This though stopped working properly after a few years. I obviously don't know how long the Hotline P208 will work, but I gave it 5 stars because of the service I received from the supplier GC Battery Works. The tester I ordered from them did not arrive. Yesterday they said they would send a replacement and it arrived today. Despite the lack of a voltage reading, it looks like I can still check the effectiveness of the electric fence over time. The device starts beeping about 2 metres from the fence where the energizer is attached, but the distance is a bit less at the far end of the fence where the voltage is lower. If these distances reduce over time (and if they can't be improved with a new battery in the tester) there is probably something wrong with the fence/energizer. A further reason to replace the original device was that I used it to test for an in situ spark when, for example, a chain saw didn't start. This is still possible with the Hotline P208, but as it has no visual indicator this would be a two person job.
