Can you see the image in bright sunshien

Hiya, no - it's very much the same as other cameras without a viewfinder - fine in cloudy or dull weather, but we find we struggle in bright sunshine. Hope this helps.

I need to take close-ups of paintings, is it any good for this?

I find the zoom option (though great) has difficulty when the camera is 1.5 meters or less from the subject (it keeps de-focusing so you get a blurred image). You either have to get the camera very close to the subject & not use the zoom, or zoom from over 1.5 meters away. With paintings that shouldn't be a problem, when I try with insects it gets more difficult as they move away when the camera gets near... The image quality (when in focus) is great though. The only other thing to watch out for is if shooting in red light. All Sony cameras have issues with focusing or red-balance when the major source of light has a high red content... hope that helps?

Does this camera have manual controls for iso, white balance etc...

Yes it has both. A really excellent camera. I am an artist and am often sending photographs to gallery`s, they demand the best.

Can camera be mounted on a tripod?

Yes- it has a hole on the bottom where you can screw a tripod or selfie-stick into
