can this connector be used at hot climates like Houston Texas. I ask because the instructional video says use upto 85 degreess ambient air temp

Verify the following: 1. That State of Texas Approves by bldg code these devices. 2. 85 deg is probably Celsius which is 185 deg Fahrenheit, a reasonable specified temp for extreme electrcal conditions.

Can I use the three slot one to pigtail? One hot in and two lines out?
