I liked the look of this book but it was a present for a 10 year old drummer ....

Good introduction to drumming
Bought the book for my son to go with his new electronic drum kit. The book starts at the very basics and gradually introduces the different techniques and different playing styles. A good introduction and the online resources included and referred to in the book are useful.

Good but needs a CD
Could have done with a CD rather than a streaming link for play along. Some of the book is helpful for teaching a beginner.

This excellent for a beginner
The exercises progress gradually and are clearly presented in the book. The audio download was easy and straightforward to use. The only negative comment I would make is that I think, even as a total beginner, I could play some of the example audio tracks better than whoever laid them down! (Inconsistent force applied to the snare and/or the kick drum in basic drumming patterns giving an unequal and jarring effect).

Great beginners book for Electronic drummers.
I've been drumming for about 30 years now. And not that this means a lot to anyone born after 1990 but I was raised on the Carmine Appice books and videos. Those along with listening to Buddy Rich and Max Roach and then later studying guys like Dennis Chambers to Nicko McBrain to Neil Peart. All along this time I looked at drumming books and always felt they were lacking. Like you open them up and then it's your straight ahead rock stuff with no visible explanations of style, posture, holding the sticks, setting up a set. The list goes on and on. I still have my rudiment books and they're literally measure after measure of paradiddles and flams and rolls that could bore you to tears. So here I am 30 years later with an eight year old of my own and an electronic set on its way and needed something to get him started. Here it is. This book takes the absolute beginner and helps them set up the set, goes over posture, stick holding, drum pads. the module, and then starts teaching them the rhythm. I happen to play most instruments and am a drummer first. So why not just show my boy how I do it right? Well of course I do that some but have always felt that supporting the way he'll learn in school to be most beneficial. And that's the ability to read sheet music and know time signatures etc. This book gives you all of that and more. Lastly, even though this is the beginner book it comes with a download card in the back that provides backing tracks. That's excellent. Now I can set him down like a regular lesson and let him go on to explore the world I love and have lived in all my life. It's a good book.

A good book and guide
Very good information. It focuses on types of electronic drum kits and how they work. Includes many examples of drum rhythms.

This is actually what the title says, which makes a nice change.
The perfect book for those of us with a boxed or newly-assembled electronic kit and no previous experience. I bought several manuals that were more about incorporating electronics into an acoustic rig or using the assorted bells and whistles than the basics a beginner needs to know. Lots of photos.

I wouldn't buy this if you are giving to a un-experienced drummer.
This was for my grandson, a little advanced for him right now, but i think as he improves playing it will be useful
