Water keeps pouring into pan stopping it from filling up

I have only just bought this, and this is exactly the problem I am having. After flushing, the overflow pipe gets stuck in the up position and water keeps pouring into the pan. I don't really want to remove the strainer to return the part, as that means taking the whole cistern off again. Is it possible to just get a replacement for the outlet valve or cable, as a brand new product really should be working?

I need to know if outlet is 2"bsp, without adaptor?

I can confirm thread on bottom of adaptor is 2" BSP, hope this helps

It also explains the setting of the slide valve that controls the amount of water consumed in the short flush.

Will this fit most toilets. My system is older button And its faulty?

If it looks the same it will fit. It is very easy to fit with just a twist to remove then a twist to fit.
