Q: Can you use sash windows ?

One the bottom/top seal but not the sides

Q: How the heck do you peel off the backing without peeling off the sticky tape. Impossible?

Try to peel off a small corner & make sure it's not pulling the whole sticky part. I did it successfully. Worked well.

Should be okay to use on metal windows. But best to ask the manufacturer.

Q: Can you still open and close the windows?

Try a little bit first. Worked on one but not another. Good product though
