Nanogen Thickening Heat Protecting Spray

This is amazing. What a difference it has made to my hair. So much thicker and shinny. Love it.

Nonogen thickening heat protecting spray is an aqueous solution of additives which are designed to 'cook' when heat is applied via a hot hairdryer or straightening tongs in order to provide a soft protective layer to the hair folicles. It also contains things like caffeine which seems to be quite popular as an additive for shampoo and conditioners recently. Caffeine is apparently good for protecting against thinning hair and 'stimulates' the scalp. Albeit how a large molecule like caffeine gets through the outer dead layer of skin cells is not revealed. The trick to using this product is to shampoo thoroughly, rinse, towel dry and then spray evenly across the hair and comb through with wide toothed comb before applying any heat. I can only comment on my personal experience to say that, if you don't over-apply it, it leaves the hair thicker, softer and more manageable than ordinary conditioners.

I found this stuff completely unbearable. When sprayed on my hair it left a strong, sour bad breath smell which didn't fade. I kept getting whiffs of it all day. It made me feel really ill. I asked others to smell my hair and they noticed it too. Furthermore I didn't notice any thickening effect. I will never use this again.

The product is very good

My wife tried this out, hoping to have thicker hair as a result. The Nanogen spray has a good spray handle which makes it easy to spray. You need to use around 4 sprays in an area on your hair for it to work. It's fairly scent free, just a feint smell, and didn't dry the hair out as with other sprays we've used in the past. It did leave her hair feeling and looking a little thicker, but just don't go expecting miracles. What it does do well, though, is hold it in place so you can adjust any thinner patches to make your hair look better over all, so it works in one way, at least.

This seems to work quite well. My wife washes her hair every other day and on week days she straightens it every day, so this is particularly useful for protecting her hair from the dryer and straighteners. I note some comments about the smell. It does have a light fragrance, not unlike that of a hairdressing salon, not great but not unpleasant either. In terms of adding thickness I do think it works because I have tried it on my hair. Not a lot is required, but I suppose it all comes down to how frequently one washes ones' hair! Worth a try.
