Great unit for the money, good mid and high end tone.
I have used this for a month now after getting nostalgic to want to play all the vinly that was in my attic. I compared this unit to the marantz and pioneer units on offer for similar prices and consider Denon to be a good brand for lower end hifi. This player had an on off power button which the pioneer didn't have which is usefule for my particular set up. I've plugged this into the phono port on my recently purchased Yamaha AS500 amp (which is great btw) driving 25 year old KEF speakers. Note that the phono switch for the preamp on off is only accessible when the platter rubber is off the platter and a slot it aligned so you can put a finger into the hole to set appropriately. I run this with the pre-amp off so cannot comment on how good this is. This player also has automatic start stop feature which is fine, the feature that I wish is had was a lever arm so you can lift the needle and position on track of choice. I found that I could achieve the same effect by lifting the plastic cam for the automatic start , position the needl and then allow the cam to drop slowly on its own. The Denon also comes with a sub port so I can rip old vinyls to MP3 . I've installed the software but not tried it but the software looks good not noddy like on an ion player I have which only works if plugged directly into a computer usb. Now to the sound, not myth to say other than very good indeed for the money, mid and high tones all good, bass seems a little lighter than listening to cd through same system though changing the bass on the amp sorted this. Overall this is a good piece of kit for the money and probably best amongst the three units I've mentioned, in fact the Marantz seems to be identical to the Denon but withou the power switch so iTunes's they use the same chassis. The exertior case feels light and plasticky but only noticeable when setting up and lifting out of the box. Once in place seems absolutely fine. Great to be able to listen to my vinyl again and I've found that I'd listen to a whole album one side at a time.

Denon Digital Delight!!
I am not usually so easily impressed but this USB Turntable from Denon is a delight to use. One thing - forget the software. As other reviewers have said it's not up to it, but it's not needed. I downloaded Audacity - easy to use and free. I convert from 192 to 320 and split the tracks in iTunes. This also lets you name tracks, albums and add artwork. Takes a bit of time but I enjoy doing it. With the equaliser switched on the vinyls sound stunning through my Cyrus amp and Monitor Audio speakers. Yes there are more expensive and fancier turntables out there but this is mid-range, mid-priced bit of kit and it's no hassle to get onto a USB stick. It works great and it's better than I thought it was going to be. I should add that Amazon were brilliant on this order. It was confirmed on Thursday 17th May and arrived by 9am on Saturday 19th May (Express delivery). The turntable was set up in 15 minutes and 1st LP was digitised before the cricket started between Eng and West Indies.

Good turntable - reasonable cost
I wanted a new turntable so I could re-discover some of the pleasures of my old record collection. I was a bit surprised at the cost of turntables these days but, i suppose with inflation factored in maybe they aren't so expensive. Anyway, firstly I must comment on a great service from Superfi. It was free delivery but they definitely provided a first class service in this respect - I highly recommend them. The turntable arrived very well packaged and just needed to be unpacked and assembled (fixing the belt to the platter and then putting on the mat - which was all very easy to do). I connected it to my Denon M38 Cd Receiver and it all worked perfectly. It is very easy to use and I am pleased with the sound from the set up. So far I have only used it to play records and have not tried to use the USB recording facility, though it is something I do intend to try, but if I'm not happy with it at least I know I can directly connect this turntable direct to my PC. The only negative point I have come across is that it would have been better had there been some indication of when the unit was on, as there are no lights to show this, and I have left it on overnight by accident already. On the whole I would definitely recommend this turntable for those wishing to get back to playing their vinyl collection.

An amazing sounding turntable!
This is an amazing sounding tunrtable! Is it a bit plasticy? Perhaps, but it's not going to be moved around so that doesn't really matter. What does matter is the sound and I have to say it exceeds my expectations for a component at this price point! I was amazed at how clear the sound is, full of great, rich tone. If I didn't know it was vinyl I would be hard pushed to pick it out from a CD version, apart from the fact that it has much more warmth and character. I bought this to play my old record collection and to record it to MP3 (which I haven't tried yet), but I think I will actually start buying my music on vinyl again. It just sounds so good! Yes, there is more hassle involved, but it doesn't get in the way of enjoying the music and the process for me actually makes me feel closer to the music somehow. I grew up through the 70s so maybe part of it is nostalgia, but I would recommend this deck to anyone who wants to go back to vinyl or, indeed, for anyone who wants to find out what all the fuss is about without breaking the bank!

Denon DP-200USB Turntable - Excellent
Through a life time of collecting vinyl LPs and singles, mainly because I thought CDs and latterly MP3s were just a passing fad, but then I was one of the few who bought a Betamax Video recorder as well, never seem to latch on to the right technology until everyone else has moved on. Any way I now have one of these excellent turntables, well built and when playing through my Denon system give a very exceptable sound quality. I am sure that there are those who believe that nothing but the best HiFi equipment is worth listening to. The recording quality is also extremely good and having done tests on singles and LPs I am looking forward to recording my collection into digital format probably another no-no for the HiFi Buffs. Still it suits my untutored ear. The critisms about the editing software may be correct, but I have AVS4you audio editor which I like a lot so no worries. I purchased mine from Super-Fi who I cannot recommend highly enough. The service has always been first class in my experience and all done at a very competitive price and free postage (It arrived within 3 days of ordering)

Okay record deck, terrible software.
I bought this specifically to transfer my vinyl collection to MP3 and not to connect to any medium or high-end hi-fi equipment. The product itself is OK - easy enough to set-up and work-out how to use, the quality of sound coming through my small stereo is fine (although I have never compared any other record deck through the same stereo), however the software is infuriating - really, really poor. I find it counter-intuitive to simply split the tracks and it is driving me mad. I would get some additional / alternative software if I could be bothered, but I've got to the point where I just play my records through the stereo. I really should have looked at this in more depth and I probably would have bought a standard record deck and maybe an add-on that allowed it to be played directly into my PC. I'm not using it in the way I intended.

Denon'll do
This is a straightforward good quality turntable, which is automatic and has a simple start stop operation. It will play singles (45rpm) and LPs (33rpm) giving a good authentic sound via its quality stylus. It also has the ability to record the playing record onto a usb drive, and name the record/track (editing through a computer) via the included disc. The turntable has a pair of audio leads (attached) and a main lead with a two pin plug ( there is a three pin adapter plug supplied for direct mains connection) that can be connected directly to compatible Denon amps.

Check your Windows OS before buying
Buried in the manufacturers PDF is the statement about Windows operating systems with which the software is compatible. Only 2000, XP & Vista. When I asked Denon support the reply was - "The following operating systems are only compatible with Trans Music manager:- Windows 2000 / WIndows XP / Windows Vista This would explain why you are experiencing issues with Windows 7 use. In light of this you may want to try a third party registry cleaner and uninstaller however we cannot support this directly." The kit was delivered in good condition, I have no idea how well it works due to the software issue, the support was responsive but only available during office hours monday - friday.

Unfassbar
