Perfect for CD owners
I thought I'd wait a few weeks before posting a review, to test all the functions. If you really want to play your CD collection to a higher level of audio listening then this is at least the entry level of quality that you should decide upon. In a age of streaming and blue tooth, actually playing full audio files from CD, still really makes a difference on a Denon unit. The sound is what it should be from a CD and it is powerful enough for any room in any house. Far too many people think just because something is played loud it's good and it's not, they make the same mistake with turning up the base until you can feel you heart coming through your mouth and that is also a mistake. Whatever system you choose you need to always make sure the sound is balanced or you won't here a CD or track the way it was recorded. Sound only needs to be louder and louder, the bigger the space it has to fill and then you are supposed to be further away from the speakers not to get distortion or go deaf, or lose some hearing. There is no sound distortion from this unit. Controls feel easy to use and although there is no blue tooth to connect your headphones to, you can connect your equipment by blue tooth to play music through the unit and you can connect wired headphones to the unit. Now if you are going to bother to pay a decent amount of money for something like this to play your CD's well on, then every good music person knows, good quality wired headphones are a must. But at least you can play your music files from your phone via blue tooth and still get a good quality sound. If you do use something like your phone through blue tooth on this devise, make sure you switch off your automatic standby after 15 minutes on this unit, as the unit thinks you have stopped using it, so it's not a fault, you will need to read the instruction manual for that little tip. One draw back is fitting the speakers that come with the unit, they are good quality speakers, but I wish they would all stop using these wire ends, as they are a little bit tricky in getting the connection sorted on both speakers and sometimes you can think you have a faulty unit or speaker. It took me about twenty minutes to get both speakers working. I hope in the future they choose to move to plug in ends and not thin bits of wire on the end of the cables. Another plus for me is I still have a 25 CD Changer, which I can plug in using the White and Red cables, which works well with this unit. I have no issues with the DAB radio, my area is not too bad for reception. Although I did have to tune it for stations twice. If you don't want to compromise CD sound and listen to CD's the way you are supposed to hear the sound, in this age of compressed streaming and compressed files, then this unit is a must. Yes I know it does not have a USB port, but that's no big issue for me, because if you play anything that is not a CD on a unit like this anyway, the chances are it's a compressed file on your phone, so you will then use it like cheaper units that don't play CD's as well and accept the lesser quality of streaming and phone music files.

Fantastic AVR, Denon deliver again. The best just got better!
The connectivity options are varied and very easy to set up. Integrated the RCD-M41 at the heart of my home cinema set up. Now it's the brains and control. Easy to switch between the various sources. For such a small unit it packs a real punch. The sound quality is amazing, although the SDB tone feature could have been best served with separate bass, treble and balance knobs rather than an integrated digital function via the remote. That said the sound is clear and concise rather than muddy like you'd expect from a single tone funcion switch. As I use the unit to control my home cinema, I've added a separate subwoofer and centre sound bar, further enhancing the dynamic range and sound of the RCD-M41. The Bluetooth connectivity is just brilliant. Using Bluetooth 5.0, connections are stable. Pairing with your relevant device: android phone, home projector, etc. is very quick and easy. Once paired that's it. When the unit is shut down and then switched on and Bluetooth connectivity is required again the RCD-M41 automatically connects to the selected device once more! The remote control is functional and sturdy and laid out very intuitively. There is even an alarm function within the clock settings. When set the RCD-M41 DAB radio switches on automatically at the designated time - awesome! I went for the black version as more in keeping with my minimilist home decor. So in conclusion if your looking for an affordable, all rounder, all in one AVR unit then you won't go wrong in choosing this beast. Performance is excellent. Connectivity is excellent. Looks fantastic and exceptional value for money.

Excellent little unit
I use this in the bedroom which is also my study and place of refuge. I wanted a relatively small unit to provide background music when working or reading. I also like to listen in the evening through my reasonably decent headphones. The unit is attached to some fairly nondescript speakers from a previous system. Facilities - CD is quiet in operation - DAB works fine and I get plenty of stations using the supplied ariel. - FM reception can be a bit hissy but my previous device had the same problem. I am happy enough with DAB as I am not a purist. - Bluetooth works fine and useful. - Connections at the back are adequate for my needs. Two optical ports, 1 phono. I have a Chromecast audio plugged into one of the optical ports. There is also a sub-woofer port should you require one. - 3.5mm headphone socket at the front. - There is no USB but I don't miss it. - There are a couple of alarm clocks, one repeating and "one single shot" (as well as a sleep timer) in the system and I use these to rouse from slumber. You can get the system to tune to a radio channel or CD or any of the ports should you opt for some complex wake-up routine. - Automatically switches off if unused for about 30 minutes, e.g. the CD finishes or your Chromecast stops In operation - Build quality seems robust - Sound quality is very acceptable, even through my old, little speakers. Using my headphones I get much more detail. The sound is pleasantly forward, with clarity. - Remote is a little on the large side for my taste but fine nonetheless. Good value at its usual price (around £229). Even better if you find it at a significant discount!

A gem of a little unit!
You will need to quickly replace the provided aerials as these are surprisingly useless. The unit itself? A brilliant little beast with far more power than the average home could possibly need, and a wonderfully quiet CD transport (I've still, thankfully, got excellent hearing). It also carries the signal from a mini-disc recorder/player wonderfully well. The sound is near neutral, giving a concert performance of Holst's Planets a perfectly natural hall ambience. As for The Modern Jazz Quartet, they haven't sounded this good in years. A bargain (except for the aerials - come on, Denon, is it really worth bothering to put them in? I spent £3.75 and improved the reception to near perfection)! That £3.50 cost is the only reason that this review hasn't got five stars!

Nice delivery... Eventually.
Welcome my new kitchen radio, all of a sudden my KEF C1 speakers sound amazing this Denon rcd-m41dab is quality. It's replaced an Onkyo cr-515dab which I also bought from richer sounds (not via Amazon that time) It was great (I thought) for about 15 years but the Denon is outstanding. Bluetooth brilliant! Oh.... Absolutely very very nice... But please knock or ring on the door next time. I was on tenter hookks all day and then delivery driver didn't knock hard enough.... 😩

Reasonable price, great kit
Simple. I needed a quality cd player with a headphone amplifier built in. This is for me to get lost in the music I love. I also bought some decent but not crazily priced headphones. The test was Led Zeppelin IV and Yes, Close to the Edge. They sounded fantastic. The detail that the kit provides is excellent, without messing around with graphic equalisers like we used to do. Hear the sounds as the artist intended. Great for old prog rockers!

Much better than expected
I love this all in one system, The CD player is in my opinion comparable with my Marantz CD6007 for sound quality and the amplifier has more than enough volume for normal households with the volume control steps more as they should be with less of a distance than most other amplifiers between each step meaning it is far easier to attain the correct listening level. The tone is clear making voices much easier to understand whether singing or talking. The Bluetooth was a doddle to set up too, connecting to my phone and MP3 player within ten seconds of turning each of them on, separately, of course. The DAB tuner (radio) when coupled to the roof aerial connects to all available stations in your area but a word of advice, if you wish to connect to your roof aerial you will also need to order an F type plug to RF fly lead to connect to the Denon's screw type aerial connector, easier than it sounds. This Denon also has two optical connectors for if you want to connect your TV, or whatever else which it handles with equal vigour as it does when playing music through any of it's playing formats or modes. In use, in this day age of ever increasing energy prices more companies should advertise just how much power their machines use but this Denon RDCM 41 DAB only uses, according to my own in home energy usage monitor 17 watts of electricity but I don't know how they measures usage but looking at the official online manual that says it uses 70 watts of electricity which in my book is still very good indeed. We have ours on everyday listening to all different formats from tuner from around 9am through to switching to the MP3 player using Bluetooth during the afternoon, then to watching the TV and listening to the sound through the optical connection after about 5pm till about 11pm when it can then get a well deserved rest till the next day, everyday so it gets a lot of usage. The quality of sound from this all in one system is phenomenal, there's no wonder it has won so many awards, it certainly gets my vote.

Really nice compact unit
This is a really nice, smart looking unit which is ideal for my needs. I have both a TV and PC connected to the optical inputs, and a turntable connected to the analogue inputs. The sound quality is awesome, and the DAB+ tuner and CD player are both far superior to the ones in the cheap unit it was replacing. The tuner is picking up more stations and keeping a more stable signal. And the CD player is of a much better build quality and copes better with less than perfect discs. The only issue I had was nothing to do with the unit itself, but ordering direct from Amazon. They chose to send it via Royal Mail's 'Guaranteed' 24-hour delivery service, which took over a week to arrive! In the meantime, I ordered the same unit (for the same price) from another retailer directly, and it arrived the following morning! So I ended up refusing delivery of the unit from Amazon and getting a refund. Sorry, Amazon, but Royal Mail lost you a sale there!
