Kale germinated really well in seed trays and medium well sowed directly in soil. Grows well but although bed is protected by mesh for cabbage moths small moths still flew in and now dozens of tiny moths in there. JFI Kohlrabi is in there too (new to me) and they are even more attracted to those plants Think I need a bunker to grow any brassica's but seeds really good and great value for money.

These are fantastic quality seeds! All germinated very rapidly and I now have very healthy 5 inch little plants growing by the day. I noticed that they seemed to survive the cabbage butterfly onslaught a little better than my green kale. I would definitely recommend, they are a great price for such a huge number of seeds!

Ordered these for the first time August 2024 and had excellent and fast germination, they grew amazing plants over winter and yielded so much of the tastiest kale I’ve eaten through spring and early summer (the budding flower tips are better than purple sprouting and similar to asparagus and gives an entirely different crop from the same plant! As a result spring of 2025 I ordered more as I decided that’s the only brassica I wanted to grow but had terrible germination rates, practically none so ordered again mid summer and had slightly better but still very bad germination rates. Thankfully I let some of last years plants go to seed and have had fantastic germination rates with my own seed but something had clearly gone wrong with premier seeds as the quality was totally different and unacceptable. I’m a fairly seasoned allotment holder and tried various germination techniques but had poor results every time. To premier, the seeds I bought in 2024 were probably the best brassicas I’ve ever grown in terms of germination, growth, taste and consistency. I hope you can get back to that quality as I’d very much like to continue to grow your Red Russian kale. I will add that premier isn’t the only seed company that have had unusually bad germination rates this year and many other plot holders feel the same way but we’re still paying the same price so expect the same quality.
