Great bike, much tougher than my local gym rower
I bought this product about a month ago. When it arrived it was fairly easy to set up as most of the parts come pre-assembled. A longer device than I anticipated (for the spare bedroom where it sits) but as it folds away this is not really a problem. On first using it, I must admit it appeared to be broken and it was the chain that had come away from the cog on transit. The helpline was good and knew what I needed to do. So, using the device. It is great, much tougher than the rower I use at my local gym (when you get the change to have a go on it that is) so you get a really good workout. Great package and well worth the money. Other reviews on cheaper models bemoaned the "bits of elastic and handles" types so went for the airflow rower type and glad that I did.

Solid machine
Got this during amazon sales. Great machine a bit noisey but overall good buy. The resistance is matched by effort you put in. Rowing for 40 mins gets a good sweat on. Only reason I havent given it 5 stars is that I havent had it long enough. I am 6'3 and 100kg having done martial arts and rowing at university I can say the fact it folds and is sturdy enough to give a good work out is pretty good.

Great for the money, does what it says on the box
The Artemis 2 V-Fit rower is great. Came dead on time, in good order and the box was perfect. I put it together in about half an hour. The instruction diagram helped but the numbers were one out in correspondence to the bits and pieces for putting it together, so for 41 read 42 etc in some places. I'm a (retired) gas turbine engineer so found it easy anyway and didn't use their tools, they're rubbish. I used two adjustable spanners instead. I had a few washers left over, but all the nuts were 3 threads clear in safety but not much more so a washer wouldn't be useful. The two large penny washers fit under the two knurled knobs that are for collapsing the machine. I had to tape the monitor cable down, it's never a good idea to have cables flapping around moving parts. The build quality is very good, I think. There is no recommendation to oil the chain, I certainly will, with a light oil designed for bicycles. Don't use WD40, it's not lubricating oil. (not on a bike chain either and as a qualified bike instructor I've seen a few fragged chains because some did). Don't put a lot on, and don't overwork the chain till it's soaked through. A soft cloth to wipe up early spatters will help. No idea how accurate the monitor is - the calorie count is a load of rubbish, truly. Forget it. If you wish to work harder than the machine is set up for, try winding the tape round the drum one more time. Perhaps useful when the elastic becomes tired to get more out before you have to spend money on replacement parts. I've started with a 4K row, in two sessions, with a 30 sec burst every half K, and work at 25 - 27 spm and do the burst at 33 - 35. My 12 yo son uses it too, He can do 4k a session at moderate pace, he's fit but needs his arms building up. It works, and well. I have no problem getting a good aerobic response from this, and I'm fitter than most. You can work as hard as you like. Oh, and the washing rack, if you put it before the fan, will dry! And I've been sat here idly wondering how to fix a power take off to make electricity, too ... PS, I'm 45, female, have a bad back, a rebuilt ankle and unhappy knees. Warm up first, and do stretches!

Perfect VFM bit of equipment
Easy to build, Solid, user friendly for a 6ft plus person. This machine gives you a good workout on your arms and legs and you'll be out of breath at a steady pace by 10-15 mins. Ideal for indoors if you want to avoid the cold weather like me. I don't think you need to look further unless you are a fitness geek!

Poor quality and design flaws. Seems like there are two versions of the product, hopefully you get the good one.
I too received my one of these today and had the same experiences as the other reviewer that received theirs today. The build quality was very poor with the same problem with the return strap passing over a sharp edge. This seems to have been a problem and therefore was remedied with tape and a tube of plastic in the factory....except that it's in the wrong place and therefore still leaves an exposed edge which mine was constantly rubbing against even in the deployed position. After a long set up, caused by the retaining pin on the chain wheel having come loose during shipping I eventually got it up and running. But in 5 mins of testing it and the return strap is already fraying. In addition to this I got slipping of the chain on the cog, connecting to the air wheel. If I pull harder to increase resistance and the chain slips most times causing enough of a jolt to dislodge the electronics panel. The electronics panel also is completely exposed on the underside meaning that if there are any problems with slips etc the chain can and did smack into the exposed electronics. Luckily one of the batteries too the brunt of this rather than the board but was enough to severely dent the battery and causing me to throw in the towel on it. The location of bolts seems haphazard, in particular the bolt to stop the seat going to far back is closer than the other stoppers making them redundant. The bolts for the front support could also just have been put on the outside and it would have been much easier to put on the nuts. Even the wheels seems to be poorly built meaning that when you lifted it they didnt have enough clearance to allow you to roll the rower along. It strikes me that there could be two manufactures actually supplying these and that one factory doesn't have the full instructions and is just bodging the construction. Given the slipping, and others experiences I have opted for a return and refund which Amazon have been very helpful in arranging; although only after I spoke to someone via the chat (the automated return option would have left me severely out of pocket).

Perfect Product, once Initial niggles were sorted
The machine arrived with 2 missing parts however the company support were quick to solve this issue and they arrived 5 days later. Only took about 20 minutes to put together and since that moment I've been using it regularly and found no issues. Note: It's worth noting that this machine comes with a warning written in the manual and on a separate piece of paper which is vital...and you will forget to follow it once, only once though. After unfolding the device, you must secure it before using it. Forgetting to do this leads to the big heavy fan hurtling towards your head. I've forgotten once, and so has everyone else I know who owns this.

Good for the price.
I received this today and will update if anything changes or any niggles become apparent. The box was totally battered. The protection in the box was completely inadequate and I am amazed that the rower wasn't damaged. This has to be improved. Putting the rower together is relatively easy. There are lots of comments in the instructions about double checking certain things, especially the connections for the computer - this might solve quite a few peoples problems. The only bit of the instructions that lacked enough detail was the bit where you connect the chain to the resistance band - which might explain why people are complaining about having no resistance when they rowed. I can't remember if this is the same with the concept 2 but I was a little surprised that a dyno isn't used to power the computer - 2 AA batteries instead - not included. With the resistance: I've rowed a fair amount on a concept 2 and I would compare the resistance to about an 8 on a concept 2. 6 on a concept 2 is meant to simulate water. With the length: I'm 6ft, and the rower is plenty long enough, I have another 6 inches of travel on the slider when at maximum leg stretch - but everyones legs are different lengths, I'm a 32 in length if that helps anyone. My only complaint would be that to do a proper stroke my right hand hits the fan when beginning a stroke. With the footplates: they're maybe a bit low compared to the concept 2, but more of a problem, I prefer to work out in barefoot and the velcro straps don't do up as the velcro doesn't line up as the straps need to be tight. The computer seems to work fine so far, the strokes per minute seems a little slow to react - about 15 seconds. The timer doesn't stop automatically when you stop rowing like the concept 2 and there is no off button and the computer takes AGES to automatically turn off by itself. I haven't mathimatically worked out if the distance is correct like many people report, but it does seem a bit generous and everyone knows calorie counters are BS. Overall the metal parts seem well made but the plastic parts - especially the footplates - feel and look poor quality and cheap. The wheels don't work on carpet to move it around as they're recessed too much. The folding mechanism is a little fiddly as you have to take a washer and a nut off completely to get it to fold and there is not mechanism in place to hold the machine shut. In conclusion, if you compare this against a concept 2 like for like, the concept 2 is way better. But this machine is a quarter of the price and the concept 2 is not 4 times better. And for that price it's good and worth a buy.

Good for daily exercise
I bought this rower a few months back and have been using it 3-4 times a week for a brief 10-15 min row (I'm planning a slow ramp up :-). It's great for accesible exercise at home without the excuses of a gym visit. It was fairly straightforward to put together alone (30min), but I did find that the chain had slipped off and that was a bit of a struggle to put back. The chain has also slipped off a few times after but its now back on within a minute. The foot straps are solid and the seat, handles and movement are comfortable for a fairly tall guy like me (182cm - 6ft). My wife has also started using it and she's never done rowing before. The negatives include the fact that the exercise monitor uses seat movements to calculate strokes and calories and that the seat has now started making a fairly loud clicking noise to add to the noise that any air rower generates. I think its a good machine for light use, but not recommended for someone with serious exercise needs such as specific heart rate or calorie burns but I'm sure with a few more minutes I'd be able to start seeing some body conditioning.
