Instructions fine, but you need a strong back and arm body strength to ensure easy fitting. Am getting older! All the kit worked well. No plumber needed - just a keen eye and good strength to fit the heavy machine. Have used In-ink-systems for about 60 years in 5 houses and about 7 machines. About 10 years per machine. Good working and so easy - no messy food bags or bins needed.

My InSinkrator 45 ran out of order probably due to age. I bought the recent Model 46 and attempted to install by myself. Initially, I feared that I would fail as I have never done this before. Surprisingly, it was very easy to dismantle the old one and replace it with the new one. Even the drain pipe connection was impeccable. I didn’t need to make any alteration although I bought a separate pipes kit as well. The new InSinkarator is now working beautifully. No leakage of water nor any defect due to my amateurish workmanship. The Owner’s Manual is self-explanatory and very easy to follow. If you are thinking of replacing your existing InSinkarator with a new, you had better buy the Model closest to the existing one. It will save you a lot of hassles and money.

Reasonable price good product

This was bought as a replacement for a completely different manufacturer's model which finally failed after many years of faithful service.This one is much quieter than its predecessor and more powerful. The instructions for fitting it were excellent - good diagrams, good use of English, very clear and unambiguous. The plumbing was entirely compatible with the old one so no issues there. I also like the fact that the rubber fingers through which you must feed the device are fastened to the device itself - on its predecessor this just sat in the bottom of the tube and eventually it got lost.As per one of the other reviews, my wife and I struggled to hold it firmly in place with sufficient pressure to get all 3 zones of the fitting to grip at the same time. Towards the end I figured I would have to follow suit and use a car jack to support it - that's when it dawned on me that our cars today don't come with a jack and we might have to borrow one - but one final effort from us both and we did succeed in getting it up high enough, with enough force, and held level to get the fitting to grip.Let's hope it now gives as good a service as its predecessor.This model doesn't use a pressure switch - our kitchen has a switch on the wall hence we intentionally chose the model that does not have the pressure switch. We just cut the plug off and connected it in the same way as its predecessor (via a junction box to a fused spur).

After consulting the UK distributor of the InSinkErator, I placed an order which arrived the very next day - two days earlier than predicted!The equipment came with very clear installation instructions. However there was a problem connecting the waste pipes - the distributor said that the new model 46 was fully compatible with the previous model 45 in terms of connections. This advice has proved to be incorrect, and I am still finding difficulty in connecting the new model to my waste system.Once this problem is solved I am sure the InSinkErator will perform well.

Did the job. Easy to fix

Totally impressed. The delivery was next day. The product comes well packaged and includes the plastic pipe and fixings for connection to standard drain and standard sink. Luckily the sink part was standard enough that I could just twist off the old unit and replace it with this one. The drain was slightly different but didn't take long to adjust. Build quality seems very good and the noise is not excessive. The fitting instructions are really clear and the guy that wrote them should be awarded some sort of prize for their clarity. All in all very good product. The rubber seal that goes into the unit has a sort of tapered bullet shape that goes in to the unit first. I found it easier to fully locate the rubber seal and pipe then screw the plate in place. But mostly the instructions are very clear.

A perfect fit from model 45 to 46 only 10 minutes to fit so easy and well made machine.
