Very pleased so far. We used to have the flip up lid style pet feeder but that was useless as my cat easily pushed his way in. The C500 so far has resisted the efforts of my brute of a cat maine coon to force his way in. This has included trying to bite, chew and claw his way in, head butt it, overturning it and dragging it several metres away. The first time we used it when we were out one evening he had dragged it into the hall and tipped it over - this did mean he hadn't been fed as although the motor did try to turn the tray, it couldn't turn it fully when it was upside down. So, one hungry cat. We've since resolved this as the feeder comes designed with an option to fix it down - we attached it to a heavy-ish wooden chopping board and devised a system using strong magnets to attach the chopping board to the skirting board with the feeder fixed down on top. The feeder can still be easily removed from the chopping board (by humans). So far this system has resisted any efforts by the cat to drag the feeder away and turn it over. I do have to say that my cat is probably more determined and larger than your average cat! The feeder is looking somewhat battered due to his initial efforts to claw and bite his way in - the plastic on the white top is quite soft - but otherwise seems to be surviving. Another bonus is the ice packs - my cat is on a raw food diet and, depending on timings, I put his food in frozen or semi-frozen with the ice-packs underneath secure in the knowledge his meals will slowly defrost and be ready when it's feeding time. My only slight criticism is that the compartments are somewhat deep and narrow at the "point" of the triangular sections so not ideally suited to a cat's round, shallow face with whiskers, but this is just a small issue and outweighed by the benefits. I wouldn't however like to use the C500 all the time for this reason, but we only use it if we are going to be out at the cat's usual feeding times. Before buying this, I was considering a vastly more expensive pet feeder which had wifi and a camera, but didn't really want all those fancy gubbins. I just wanted something that I could depend on to feed my cat during short absences from home. This has done a great job so far. I'm hoping to be able to buy extra ice packs and possibly another tray so I can have a spare set ready to go.

This ‘Millennium Falcon’ style feeder has 5 food tray compartments but as one is always open, the maximum useable compartments are effectively 4. This gives a maximum of four controlled feeds. I found it a bit complicated to get my head around the feeding options. This is why it only gets 4 stars. The instructions are not explicit. Don’t let that put you off, it’s given us numerous last minute away days without getting in a cat sitter! Here is what I understand. You can have a maximum of four meals served automatically at set times, with the following provisos:- You can set 1 meal per day, at the same time each day for a maximum of four days. OR You can set 2 meals per day over a maximum of two days each pair at the same time. OR You can set 4 meals to be served at different set times over one 24 hr period. I have two c500 feeders working ‘in parallel’ and use them as 4 day feeders, one delivering a morning feed At 7am each day, the other delivering an evening feed at 7pm each day. It is tricky keeping the cat food fresh ( we use fresh fish offcuts) but by using the provided freezer blocks and filling trays with frozen and part defrosted fish pieces, have managed four days feeding on a couple of occasions. I have to say 4 days using frozen fresh fish is really pushing the limits, especially if the weather turns very warm. Note , this in combination with a large dry food hopper and large water fountain. However the c500s are mostly used when we are away for one or two days, and at this they are excellent . Tip- to keep the food cooler for longer, using a couple of layers of non slip mats to help raise the feeder off the floor, adding to the insulation. It’s is very light, even loaded with food and the non slip mats stop it moving when the greedy furry thing really gets stuck in. It does have permanent screw down anchor points if needed but we find non slip mats easy to use and clean. Our Bengal cat does not attempt to break in to the feeder, which we simply leave on non slip mats on the kitchen floor and I think it would take a powerful animal to do so. It has screw down anchor points if needed, should your cat insists on trying to relocate it and a pretty much foolproof clipped down top to prevent Intrusion. As a reliable cat feeder, I recommend the c500. However, I suspect when you come to read the instructions, and try to work out the electronic timer options, you will realise why I only gave 4 stars to what is otherwise a good product.

Fantastic automatic feeder for wet food!! After changing my working base to office instead of home working there was nobody to feed my cat while I was working. Our cat sitter bill was ridiculous and I’m glad I found this. This machine is great, easy to use, not too big or bulky, and does exactly what it should. My cat only eats 3x a day, and I did want the smaller version however it was unavailable when I went to purchase however having this 5 section feeder is no bother, means I have spare sections if it’s ever needed. Definitely recommend, definitely buy it don’t sit on the fence about it!!

This is a super feeder now that my cat and I have learned how it works! Easy to programme the current time and rotation times, and then the freezer automatically sorts the rotation times into sequence and automatically begins. Easy to clean the food tray. Nice ice blocks for under the food tray.

This is perfect - if your cat will use it! It will arrive in a sturdy cardboard container, with clear English instructions. Take the layers apart and check them against the instructions; it's really obvious what goes where and does what. Then add the batteries to their compartment and set the timer part. I am very good at making a mess of setting timers but I got this right first time. When the time comes for the compartment to open it does so easily and the whole compartment is then revealed. Re-filling and cleaning are easy to do because the layers are easy to remove and return, they fit and lock positively so you know you've got it right, and you can see which compartment needs to be in the start position. Please don't forget that you'd have to supply water and, depending on time scale, probably other food. I used mine for wet food so I could provide a separate supply of dry food. I had it in a cool room and providing food over approximately 12 hours. I bought it so that a friend looking after my cat could set it up at the start of the day and not have to come back until the next. The Cat Mate worked just fine. Unfortunately I couldn't teach my cat to use it. He's old and deaf and, although the noise when the compartments move round is - if you're asleep - a bit noisy - he remained oblivious to it. I opted to not teach an old cat new tricks but that's not the fault of this product. I still recommend it.

Great auto feeder for my cat. I think it will stand the test of time. Amazing sized compartments. Only thing is it was quite expensive..

Works well. A bit fiddly to set. Not sure how long it will keep food fresh in warm weather but good for a couple of days. Sturdy weight. Cat adapted to eat from it no problem

This product met all my requirements; easy to use, easy to clean and reliable for feedings of wet food at set intervals. I have a small dog with digestive issues and she requires small feedings of wet prescription dog food several times during the overnight. It has not failed to deliver during the 2 months that I have been using. The ice packs are a necessity when trying to keep the food fresh in the compartments and they stay cold for many hours. I like how easy it is to fill at night and clean up the next morning with the plastic tray where the food is kept. She has not been able to get into the covered compartments with the one piece lid and has not been able to cover it up with her crate fleece when her stomach is telling her food is a bad thing because of it's size. I do have a large sized crate and there is enough room for our 8 lb dog to lie down comfortably and for this unit to sit in the corner. This close setup also lets her know when the next compartment is being rotated so she can eat. It does make a small noise when rotating and may wake some people if used during the night in the same room. I have learned that the batteries can jar lose if for instance, it drops off of the top of the crate, where I keep it during the day. However setting it up again is simple. 5 compartments are available (1 immediate feed and 4 timed feedings.) I do not have a dog which chews and those who do may have to weigh whether their small dog would chew up the plastic lid trying to get at the food in the compartments. My dog sniffs earnestly for a few minutes trying to get at the food when I first put it in the crate and then lets it go. This feeder has saved my sanity in that I no longer have to set alarms to get up to feed her during the night. Great product at a great price. I hope the longevity of the rotating mechanism is equally as good.

This is great. I only need it for a day now and then. It's battery operated so if the power goes, my cat gets fed. It has cool pads so I can leave wet good in there. The basins are wide enough for comfort I think, and they're easy to clean. Practically it only conceals 4 meals- but that's all I need. Many of the fancier ones were huge or gimmicky- this is simple, low profile and resistant to my HassleCat. The only thing is that the cold packs have started to buckle a bit. We'll see how long they last. Very happy with it overall

Mi gato requiere una mezcla muy específica de comida y porciones exactas por peso, y este comedero me permite prepararlo todo con antelación y cubrir hasta 24 horas sin que yo tenga que estar presente. Funciona perfectamente y es muy fiable para un control preciso de la alimentación. Como pequeños inconvenientes: las hormigas pueden entrar, así que conviene tenerlo en cuenta si tienes ese problema en casa. Además, el reloj no es totalmente preciso y parece atrasarse alrededor de un minuto cada pocos días, pero no es un gran problema y se ajusta fácilmente. En general, muy satisfecho y totalmente recomendable si tu gato necesita comidas planificadas y medidas con precisión.

Easy to use, good sized food trays, easy enough to clean, the icepacks are a nice touch and it's been very reliable so far. No more being woken up early by hungry cats. I find you can also freeze food in the trays as well as using the ice packs to get a couple extra days worth of feeding. Makes it very useful for trips that might last around 4 days (depending on the weather). Took a while for the cats to get used to food magically appearing without having to meow at me, but they figured it out eventually.
