Is it necessary to run these off an external amp or can run these straight from a head unit?

I’ve got them run straight off my car’s existing wiring, with an active sub linked into the head unit. My system is not state of the earth, but it sounds good enough for my needs. Compared to the factory speakers they are tonnes better. I’ve got alpine speakers in my other car, and I really like them too, but would rate these either on par, or slightly better
